Went to pick up the stainless Lipsey's S&W .32 Mag from my local FFL and he said he'd received a lightly used 97BD. Checked it out and I doubt it had 2 mags through it, price was right so I brought it home. I own a SP-01 Tactical and P-01 along with a few P-10 models, but I'm not familiar with the 97BD. Any tips or warnings I should be made aware of before I get addicted?

Locktite the tiny screw that holds the loaded round indicator.

Guard your wallet. They can be Cajunized, and will rival custom 1911's.

At a range demo day I really impressed a range officer with my ability to place bullets exactly where I wanted to on the target at 25 yards (he was telling me to shoot bottom edge, corners, etc.) because that pistol is a laser beam.

Of the CZ pistols you have which model is your favorite?

P-01 and P10S are my two favorites so far, they both fit my hand like a glove. All have been totally reliable and shoot better than I'm capable off hand.

Is there any downside to just removing the whole LCI assembly?

The mags can be hard to insert because the rim of the top round hits the frame- it can be fixed. Until then, if you leave the top round slightly forward they go right in.

I added a rail to a friend's 97, turned out pretty nice.

Grab a spare barrel bushing, it’s not an awful idea to face the back of it so it torques into position slightly (can also face the slide alternately)

Sometimes the tolerance stack up ends up with the bushing indexing with the guide rod plug in an untorqued condition and it can rotate slightly during recoil which leads to the fun experience of the guide rod plug then bending out the tines and causing failures.

Otherwise, loaded chamber indicator holder coming out was the other most common failure, definitely loctite it in.

97s have a decent amount of proprietary parts compared to the rest of the 75 series lines and derivatives. A spare extractor is a good idea.

Depending on age, ejector might also benefit from shortening and angling (original ejectors were a bit too long)

I let one go several years ago, wish I would have bought it then.  I don't know that I've seen one since then but really have been looking for other stuff.

Can't decide if I want to Cajunize mine or just sell it.
