Hi everyone,
Is there any alternative to the Beretta 21A as far as .22lr pistol?

I’m browsing through different mfg catalogs but can not find anything with similar size.. only one that comes to mind is the LCP..

Thanks

I’ve been happy with my 21A, LCP2 22 and Lifecard 22.

LCP II
Very accurate, for that type of gun. Easier to conceal than the Taurus, plus it's not a Taurus.

Already have a Lcp in 380 not a huge fan of its grip size though.

The little Ruger is other quality compact .22.
It’s not the 90’s anymore when Walther offered the good old TPH.

You know you can get a 21A from PSA for $250 after rebate right now, right?

I've had a couple and they are fun guns, but the lack of an extractor is a big no-no for a carry gun in my opinion.

You should go handle a Ruger LCP .22 or whatever it's called.
Same size as the Beretta, 10+1 rounds, with an extractor.

I’d be far more concerned with the cartridge.  I’ve never had a failure to eject with the Beretta 3032 Tomcat, the 21A Bobcat or it’s 950B Minx predecessor.  The lack of an ejector can be argued both ways.  If it’s not there it can’t break, and if it doesn’t fail to eject where’s the issue?

My favorite if you can find one is a beretta 70s or 71. Great reliable.22, slightly bigger than a 21a. Beretta mags are expensive but triple k work ok.

The S&W 43C is a revolver and it's expensive, but it is an awesome .22.

Rugged Mustang’s on the Ruger and Beretta.  Rugged Oculus on the Lifecard.  They’re all in short configuration.

I'd just spring for the Bobcat.

Mine has been flawless with Fiochi standard and CCI Minimags as long as the mags are properly loaded (1 factory Beretta and 4 or 5 Mec-Gars which have a slightly different button on the follower but work great and are about half the price. I assumed they made the factory Beretta mags but don't seem to.)

I’ve had several 21a’s. They would all FTE if they had enough rounds through them (the chamber got dirty). Which is not good when pocket carrying and dealing with lint & dust etc.  I can shoot a lcp .22 all day long and never have a fte.

No matter what you carry, if you are depending on it, it’s worth a wipe down every day or so.

Beretta Model 71, a Mossad and other government types favorite.

I've had two 21a

They've both been highly unreliable pieces of poo.

But running a can on them helps that considerably.  Unfortunately, you can't see your sights.  And amazing how easy it is to miss at a mere 10 meters....

the lcp2 is amazing. mine runs perfect with win super x 1300fps 40gr, win m22 40gr and minimag.

I use a tandemcross extension on 2 mags that I load 13rds per. if you try these extensions be ready for a pita installation procedure. the spring is a mother to get in. but 13rds and a full grip!

tried the thread barrel and decided I don't need a polite lcp2 after all. blocked sights and powder in face.

A little bigger than those listed but the best I've owned was a Beretta 87 (NOT Target model), but the model 71 is also an excellent choice. Being Italian, I'm sure you're familiar with them.

For a much less expensive pistol, and easier to find here in the US, I recommend a Bersa Thunder .22LR (at one point was also called a Firestorm, or something similar).

Cheers

I’m late to this thread.

For those with a 21A Bobcat, specifically the “Covert” threaded models, how are they in terms of reliability?

The old-school Beretta 950 Jetfire in .25 ACP might be worth a look…

I considered one of the theaded models, but I went with the Bersa 22 threaded. Not quite as small, but it is reliable and durable. Plus you can still see the sights with a suppressor on it. Not made of pot metal like the Walther .22s'...

Never seen an LCP with a threaded barrel, maybe that's just my AO.

I have an older Taurus PT22 (all metal).  Fun little gun.  Needs to be run wet and it has it's preferences on ammo, but that's true of most small 22s.  Can't speak to the current versions.

Anyone occasionally carrying their 21A? If so, who makes a good pocket holster?

Might just pick up a sub-$10 Uncle Mike’s to keep it upright in a front pocket and call it a day. The DeSantis offerings are closer to $25 and custom kydex or leather are around $50.
