I can't account for the gimmicky names these companies use, but it's hard to argue this is a bullet design that 5.7 was meant to use. A LONG lighter bullet that carries significant speed, and can penetrate to the FBI specs. Whether or not that above 2000 fps ads any rifle like wounding, This design IMO is far superior to ANY FN 40gr loading, as well as their SS190 and SS198LF load.. These even work well against IIIA..

That's in the ballpark.  Now we need to shoot hogs w/ what, $4/rnd ammo?

$40 a mag, not terrible.

Watched the 1st half of the video, impressive.

An FN 5.7 pistol, the CMMG FN mag lower, & a Fold AR upper w/ a custom bbl & CMMG bolt would make quite the $3500 carry pair.

@Jeffb1911

Even if you're not getting rifle like permanent cavities from the pistol, you're likely getting them from the 16" and you're getting a substantial crush wound from the tumbling out of the pistol.

And every reload is 20 rounds, fits pistol or rifle.

I'll have to continue to make do w/ my 26 & my 5.56 Fold AR for the time being.

@Buffman_LT1

Any idea where the legal issues vs Elite Ammo are with this round?

There a 2015 thread by PanzerMkii alleging theft of his patented projectile, but no follow-up on their 5.7 site.

I’m interested in the ammo, not the drama.  I was an Elite buyer back during the unpleasant drama with Jay & Ryan and prefer to avoid a repeat if legal issues are present.  Not implying Ryan is involved, just the actors back then.

I can find no patent existing for Elite's design.  There was grumbling that cut files from the shop who turned them being used by VG but there's a lot of back and forth. I've seen no legal cases for this so as far as I'm concerned, I'll buy either

Do I have to grow my mullet back out to play with this?

I would have concerns that the weird angles on the projectile would create risk that the gases could misbehave en route through a suppressor. Would suck to have one destabilize halfway through.

I don't really see how - it's moving at just shy of Mach 2 though 5" of can.  By the time it upsets it'll traveled 87 yds or more.

What do you mean, “grow back?”

Vampire Fang did well in (presumably calibrated) organic ballistics gel:

Is 5.7x28mm Just Overpriced .22 Magnum? [Part 2]

Be interesting to shoot some hogs w/ T6B - looks like it really could get into rifle velocities.

Gold Dot is quite the disappointment.

Revised my question….

So this is very similar to the Black Dragon Fang?  Just “sharper” tip?
