Just picked up a SA XD in 10 MM for using while fly fishing in MT, WY and ID.

I know the two premium brands are Underwood and Buffalo Bore. What would be the better loads for this?

Go heavy, or go lighter and faster?

Thanks for the input.

When I lived and hiked in Utah I carried a mixture of 220 hard cast and 180 FMJ. If those didn’t take care of the problem then I didn’t deserve to live.

I’ve loaded my own version of this using AA#9 and Acme coated 200 grain TC’s.

Go heavy and Fast. … Check out Grizzly Cartridge’s 10mm line-up. Several heavy duty bruin-stoppers to choose from:

None.
12ga. Pump. 3" magnum slug.

If you're gonna bring a pistol to a Bear fight, at least bring a slow friend you can kneecap with the pistol first...LOL

I'd go Buffalo Boar. The Underwood velocities have been falling off lately.

In the 180 grain loading, Buffalo Boar is running over 100 fps faster than Underwood- despite what the boxes say.
