Function is purely HD / Range. If you got one - how is the condition? |

Can't help you but the $399 .357 226R DAKs sure look interesting.

Yeah, great price, great chassis. Bummer of a caliber. How much cost to convert to 9mm ? Extractor and Barrel only ? maybe front sight, magazines also... View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I saw that in their catalog. I was tempted to get one,as I do have a few 357 Sig Glocks.....
Change to a 9mm? LOL. 9mm better then 357 Sig.....to some.....the 124/125grain loading in the 357 Sig is "suppose" to be close/identical t the 124/125gr load out of a 357 Mag 4" barrel. Don't want the Sig round, swap in a 40 SW barrel..... I was tempted, but I ended up spending on finishing a project vs new gun..... Did ya see the price on the new 9mm Walthers? Not bad, strange looking, but not bad price. |

This. I won't buy a P Series new - it's the Mercedes of pistols - instant depreciation once you walk out the door. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I guess if you never plan on selling it it isn't problem...I personally have a hard time buying current production guns used... To each his own...'Murica |

True.
This one will see a non pampered life so a used one with character is easier to be rough on. |

If you find the right deals, sometimes people who buy a firearm, they shoot less then 100 rounds then trade it in..... If you are good friends w/ the dealers locally, they can give ya a call when this happens.....
When I was "young", I would have said new, new, new.....but looking at the prices now of main stream manufactures...OUCH. I'm sure all of us on this site are from all walks of life, and all walks of income. Some could drop an easy $1,000 on a pistol and not bat an eye.... The reason this pistol peaked my interest, it was that DAK... Sigs version of a double action....but according to what I have read, it's not a heavy pull.....some say similar to Glock (or a hair heavier)..... |

Not a fan of the DAK trigger. It is the gun we carry, have learned to deal with it proficiently, but as a product of the SIG DA/SA, the DAK is counterintuitive.
The "Like New" examples for the P226 and P229 look like the best bang for the $$$ (no swapping parts for preference, no BS, open the box and shoot)…… and I'm personally a fan of the .40. Ammo is reasonably priced, always available, and I enjoy shooting it (muscle memory and training, just works for me). Then again…. they are used SIG P229 and P226 guns. They are not uncommon, the asking prices are good, but not earth shattering. |
|
^ agreed.
But for the effort/time to find one in the $450-500 range...I said the hell with it and decided $534 shipped was an easy decision. |

Had a 226 on order since last Monday.
CDNN is having repeated delays, "printer problems", warehouse excuses, shipping department, and communication issues. We have been in contact, via telephone and email daily. Still do not have a tracking number. . . So far, CDNN is almost as much fun as OpticsPlanet.

Have email from them saying everything is GTG with my FFL, spoke with my trusted FFL (used him for years) and he sent in authorization form / spoke with them.....as of this morning "we haven't gotten approval from your FFL" Just spoke with a lady in internet sales and she said everything is good to go again. I'll believe it when a tracking # comes over. The funny part is the phone sales guy said, "this doesn't happen when you call in an order" to which I said - " you guys weren't working when I decided to buy". |
|
I actually HAD to call in my order initially. No Internet sales to Alaska. phone orders only.
No tracking number, but latest word from CDNN is that it is "delivered" already.

I got one of the $399 .357 DAK guns last week because I wanted to swap my current 226 to 357. Other than a few scuff marks on the finish, it was an awesome deal. Swapped barrels and sold it with the .40 and actually made a couple bucks.

I have never used CDNN but gave the website a look after reading this thread. Found a great deal on excellent condition used mags for my 229.

That gun actually looks pretty clean for being used.
It appears to me (based on your pictures) that the gun was carried more than it was shot. I'd replace the recoil spring and the extractor and shoot it til things begin to break.... ETA - Grip screws are in pristine condition...those usually have a few screwdriver marks in them. |
|
I dunnoh… in my experience, aesthetically, it looks really nice for a carry gun. Looking at the barrel and guide rod, it has shot… a lot. If the gun was issued to a recruit during their recruit school (and then onto the street upon graduation), the gun will see significantly more rounds than a gun issued to a seasoned officer during a weapon change over. Both guns will look similar aesthetically, if both officers took good care of their weapon. How do the rails look? |
|
That gun probably has no more than 10,000 rds through it tops I bet. If the rails look good now, keep em lubed and you should get another 50,000 rds from that weapon
|
|
Just broke it down and gave it a good cleaning and lube job.
Also installed the SRT - took all of 3 min. The rail wear is a mix of gold and some black, heaviest wear is on the rear rails and they are gold. I'm going with oil was used by previous owner as opposed to grease. It's got a good load of grease on em now Find out how she shoots this weekend |
|
|
Ordered an OEM recoil spring.
Should be able to hit the range this evening and see how she shoots. |

Picked it up today. It's definitely been a shooter for someone, has some love marks, and nice barrel smiley (top and bottom). Slide to frame fit has a little rattle with the mag out - but I've seen new sigs with this and old ones without... so it doesn't bother me too much. Once I get it to the range this weekend, I'll decide if I want to get the frame cerakoted burnt bronze. http://i.imgur.com/tc3HEyt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Fw5YJDO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gu0g32h.jpg View Quote Do it, burnt bronze it! |
