Oh wow! That's weird.

I certainly haven't seen everything but all the case cracks/splits that I've seen (223) didn't go around the case like that, always trying to relieve themselves towards the shoulder or case neck. I'm looking at this on a phone but maybe a mfg defect? Kinda looks too straight.

Cut that sucker and let's see the cross section of it.

That does look odd.
Kinda like a case head separation, but closer to the neck?

Being a bottle neck round, I wonder about annealing them. Though with as short as they are, I wonder if it would even be possible to do and stay far enough away from the case head/base and be safe?
