Ran (Chaos)  by Kurosawa.  1985.  No one does over the top bloody like the Japanese.

Man I wish we all could get together, rent a theater, and have an 80s action movie screening all nighter.  It would be full on fucking hilarious.

Bunch of great choices in the thread.  Better than mine actually.

I'll add Come and See.  Russian flick about a Belorussian kid who has the Einsatzgruppen show up to his town.  Gets Blood Meridian-esque.  Great combat scenes in parts.

Milius's Conan the Barbarian.  Come on, you're hearing the kettledrums start as you read the title.
Opening of Conan the Barbarian (1982) (HD-720p)

To Live And Die In L.A.  which isn't very violent, but what violence there is, is usually shocking.  Plus that car chase!

Prime has a great documentary on the filming of Robocop. Purposely over the top violence

1st guy killed by Ed-209 supposedly had the most blood squibs on an actor up to that point.

I was just trying to pick movies that hadn't shown up yet.

There are DOZENS of great violent 80's movies.
