Lots of my favorites listed in this thread.  However, nobody has mentioned:

Last of the Mohicans

Yes, it is a military movie.

Wild Geese or Dogs of War.

Not because they are better than others, but because of who and when I was when I first watched them.

My favorite, and perhaps my favorite movie overall, is La 317eme Section, hands down.  Antony Beevor calls it the best war movie ever made.

A tragically-underrated film. It's probably my favorite Vietnam War flick; they just got it right with HH.

Although it was filled with graphic violence and gore, I thought Major Payne was an accurate movie.

For those that never heard of Deserter. It will give you a look into the FFL in Algiers.

I was just there in April for a 7-day Normandy Tour. The scene for the assault of "Ouistreham" was actually filmed in Port-en-Bessin where the PLUTO lines came ashore. There is a building with the painted 'Bazar de Ouistreham' still faintly visible from the filming.

To many to list. One time I tried to come up with a voting scheme to determine ARFCOMs favorite war movies  you all failed miserably

Agreed. But my favorite scene was when the hotrod cowboy slick driver pinned on major's rank and commandeered that other slick to resupply Gloria. Loved that part, lol.
