Since Denver’s elevation is 5,280 or so and the highest CO mountain is 14,000 ft or so , you are in the foothills .

No one lives at 14k.  Very few people live at 10k.  By your logic, almost everyone lives in the foothills.

Custer county spans the eastern slope of the Sangre De Cristo range which is no slouch when it comes to vertical above the valley.  I spend most of my time in and around Chaffee county.

Given OP is in Custer County, he is in a big mountain valley. Not the foothills.

The snow looks nice.  It's the gun control in your state that's the negative.

We only got a dusting, everything went above or below us. It's shaping up to be another drought year by the looks for central Wyoming. I never even had to get my tractor out to clear snow this winter.

After years of low snow totals we finally made it over 100% on our average snowpack here in southern CO.  Still have another month or so to go.

Right? I'm tired of winter but I love seeing the snowpack go up and up.

Far enough out, and high enough up, the gun laws matter a lot less.

I was in Colorado last week for spring break. The air was so dry my nose bled every day and I had headaches from the thin air. It's not for me. Was there last May and it snowed! I'm good down here.

Seems so strange to me. I live on the western slope. This winter has been very dry here.

I'm at 6000 feet the snow accumulation has melted. This was from a few weeks ago. The forecast calls for snow this weekend which will probably fuck things up for my plum tree.

I'd rather be back in GA.
or better yet, gimme the FL beaches.

The question is not why did you move to the mountains, but rather, why did you move to anywhere in Colorado?

The good news is, if you're ever wanting an eight ball of meth, you've probably got a Walter White within a mile radius.

It's been an off and on year, but we're over 100% of norm right now, I think. I'm on the western slope, too. Maybe a little higher up than you (8K~)?

I don't know, OP, why DID you move to Colorado?

Here in NC we haven't had snow in several years.

Yeah you’re a bit higher than me. I’m in Rifle so about 5500ft.

Springtime in the Rockies--nice for a few days, winter will inevitably return.  The biggest snows I've seen on the Front Range have been in October and April.  Had a damaging snowstorm here in late May a few years ago.

We used to have some of the best gun laws, now we have some of the worst.  Wasn't so long ago when Teller County, (Woodland Park, etc., west of the Springs) was named the most heavily armed county in the US.
