It all keeps blowing up just east of Jackson and I pray it stays that way.  And didn't Clarksville just get hit by one a few weeks ago?

I'll be watching tonight.

One dropped down about 10 miles away the other day.

That reminds me, I need to get out to the property and see if it struck there at all.

In Fredericktown, Mo (63645) here.  We had a huge wave pass over just a bit ago.  My wife was sent home from work and my co-workers wife a Nurse was told to huddle in a closet with the patients she could get in there.

Its fairly calm as of now, but it looks like 3-5 hours from now we could get a schwackin...
Not gonna be a good day tomorrow for us.

I had EF1 touch down not a mile away from my home. Twice. That’s why I have a weather radio. Middle of night.

West /Middle TN still have a decent cap in place. When the cap breaks later tonight and front gets closer, West TN/Middle TN and Kentucky are going to get slammed. Stay safe everyone.

Eta: it’s warm moist air that’s prevented from rising by cold dry air above it, until it’s not.

The term cap refers to an inversion layer in the lower atmosphere that acts as a "lid" on thunderstorm development.

The best analogy I have heard is to think of the cap as a lid on a pot of boiling water on the stove. Remove the lid "the cap breaks" and the contents in the pot will try to overflow the pot.

If the cap does not break, severe thunderstorm potential is reduced quite a bit. However, the cap can be eroded by sunlight (from above and reflected back from the ground). It is typically weakest at around 4pm locally, but can also break after sunset.

That's probably a muddy explanation, but it clicked visually for me when I first heard it.

Edit:  <-- slow typer :)

We had hail about the size of an ice cube from a tray.

I put the 4runner in a barn.  If the barn gets it then I'm pretty screwed anyway. This evening is going to be fun.

Same. I was in jury duty since 1pm. Came outside and it was muggy as hell. Going to try and cut the grass before any more rain hits.

Tornado hit just to the west of us last night in Hot Springs.  Alerts woke us out of a dead sleep at 0108.  Never seen lightning like that before.  Got a little pea to nickle size hail but thankfully the worst fizzled out before hitting us.  Local guys are calling for another potentially sleepless night.  Seriously considering digging a storm shelter in the near future.
