I'd love to find an old school (mid-'70s) Colt Combat Commander in good shape.
Ring hammer, simple sights and all.
I've wanted one since I first handled one in Otto and Son's Sporting Goods store in Coldwater, MI in '72 or so.
The current version  just doesn't quite fit the memory.

Ugly and still original parts [including matching frame and slide] save for an extractor. [chipped claw so popped in a USGI replacement]

Still goes to the range with me all the time, still reliable as hell, still fun as heck to shoot. Was only a couple hundy bucks so, while I tended to look for nicer stuff, I said what the hell and bought it. And, for as ratty as it is, it STILL doesn't rattle at all unless you have a full mag in it. Still far tighter then people give USGI 1911A1's credit for.

@fxntime that's the kind of historical 1911 I'd like. I know guys get down crazy rabbit holes with it, and I respect it, but super mil-surp nerd is not for me. I'd love something with history that looks like it was popped out in wartime but still works.
