What are the latest, greatest these days?

I'm grooving on Nacets right now.

When I got my Merkur safety razor a few years ago it came with 50 blades. They seemed to work well and last a while. Holding an edge is important because I shave my head and I do it in the shower. Last thing I want to be doing is hopping out of the shower to change a blade on a razor thats dripping wet.
I've been working through a bunch of old Gillette blades from the 80's or 90's that a family member had tucked away before they switched to modern multi-blade style razors. They are only good for a few shaves. In fact I wanted something different so I swung by Walmart and picked up whatever they had on the shelf and those were way better. I've been looking to get a stash of good blades again but at least I now know the ones on the shelf at Walmart aren't terrible. |

I am probably set for life, I have a couple thousand blades, most being feathers. |

Astra platinums are where it’s at for me...

Astra for me as well, but I wonder how availability might change.
I know lots of people swear by feather, but they nicked me so much I gave up on them. Merkur handle. |

Like most living things, you run them through a combine, it'll pretty much take care of it.

It's interesting. It seems that Feather is the bees knees, when used in Feather razors, or similar mild razors.
Astra SP seem to do better in more aggressive razors, such as my various FatBoys. Seems the Feather might be sharper out of the gate, but degrades more quickly over subsequent shaves than the Astra. This will be interesting because my beard is like barbed wired, so I'm not sure how many subsequent shaves I'll get with any blade. I'm therefore thinking the sharper Feathers will be better, but for one, maybe two shaves. Not sure the Astra will get the job done, but I'll try them and hope they work, as they are A LOT less expensive. Thanks |

You have to try them for yourself. Some blades people rave over shave like garbage to me. Other blades I think are slept on get mixed reviews by other people.
As an example, I like Gillette silver blue blades. Some people in this thread probably don’t. For me Feather blades are amazing when I haven’t shaved in a few days, but are too harsh for daily use. |

I've bounced around, and always come back to Feather.

I've used a few different brands, and have settled on Feather Platinum blades.

Feather didn't work for me but seems to be the general consensus of tier one. I prefer Personna.

I have another contender to add to the mix. This paired with a Parker variant has become my new favorite.

Solid audible feedback, no skin irritation whatsoever, and very efficient. |

You're the only one who can determine the right razor/blade combination for you. |
