Which loft would be the best to start with?
(I'm a 20 handicapper at best) |
|
|
I use my #3 the most, took my 3 iron out of the bag.

Try a few, you may love them.
But it's all about gapping. Usually you replace a lower lofted iron with a hybrid that goes the same distance, just higher flight, steeper descent angle, and easier to hit. |

I’d say 3’s are the most common, I hit mine like fire when I connect
I have an urge to grab a 5h. I feel it would be a good mid range club. |

I have both a 3H and a 4H, made by Taylor Made. They are 19° and 22° respectively, and I can slam them 200 yards and 190 yards, from anywhere, any lie, any condition. Hybrids are amazing golf clubs!

My 25 degree hybrid is around 15 yards longer than my 26d 6i.
But those are my clubs and my swing, FWIW. Go try out a few to find the best fit for you. |

View Quote I have a ladies Adam 5 hybrid with a mens shaft. Perfect club to extract a ball from thick stuff that would grab an iron |

I've played a 2, 3 & 4 Cobra Amp Cell for the last 8 or 9 years. This year with a whole new bag I upgraded to a 2, 4 & 5 King Tec. I'm still working on my gapping. The 2h has been going up against my 5w. My new irons have a 23* 5i so I think the 5h @ 24* needs to be lofted up a touch to replace it. I'm rarely reaching par 5's in two anymore so my hybrids have pretty much replaced my fairway woods. I am liking this 5w though. I'm hitting the range later today with my launch monitor to work on it some more.

The Taylor made stealths are really clean hitting clubs. I carry a 4 and 5. I also have an old Snake Eye 19 degree that is
just sweet. It's my 190 club. You can find them on EBay for about 12 bucks. One of the first hybrids introduced. |

I had a 3 Callaway Rogue, tended to go left, hard. Got a 4 Apex and it is much straighter, can even fade it. Both went about the same distance anyway. Wife carries a 4 and 6 hybrid.

The call them “Rescue clubs” for a reason.

Going a different direction, I'm pretty happy with the Paradym 7w I've added where my 4 hybrid used to be.
I now go driver, 3HL (16.5* so basically a 4w) 7w, 5 hy, 6i-52*, 58* wedge I'll put the hybrid in though if it's really windy. |

My Ping 3 is 19 degrees, it’s VERY useful.

My 4H is my favorite club to chip with.

Went to Top Golf yesterday and got to use a 3H for the first time
Left Too Golf and went straight to Golf Galaxy and bought a 3H Thanks for the responses |

I scored a 5h used at GG yesterday, matches my 3h.
Playing a round on Saturday and plan on putting it to work |

Well I bought a Callaway Mavrik 3H and 4H yesterday

I played my 5h yesterday, wow I should have added one a long time ago. Absolutely rips on the fairways. Great loft and very good yardage.

Well, at the driving range they were great and I was very impressed.
However I wasn't able to carry that success on to the golf course lol My first outing, on the course, with them wasn't impressive at all. I wasn't hitting them no where near as well as I was at the range. Not giving up on them at all and I'm excited to keep using them |

|
Back in my stance and my iron swing made me warm up to hybrids. They're not a fairway wood
|
|
|
I wish I could hit my 3 hybrid. Picked one up after playing with a buddy that uses it for everything. It is by far my most frustrating club for some reason
