I've been going to a warehouse size liquor store (similar to Total Wine and More) to buy beer, but since learning a bit about Bourbon, I checked out their selection.  I didn't see any of the ones I'm interested in trying, but now that I know about barrel picks, it was interesting to see what they had.  There were at least four or five but the only one that really caught my attention was a Four Roses single barrel barrel pick.  I like the small batch and it would be interesting to try the single barrel, but it was a bit pricy for me.

good bourbon does not have to be expensive.

Sorry for you.  IMHO it's brake fluid.

I had to buy a case to get a bottle of Pappys when it came out (small local GA store where I knew a guy...).  Couldn't give it away fast enough.

I don't know enough to have looked, but I'm in there frequently, due to my beer hobby.  I'll look next time.  The price was definately more than I want to pay, I think in the $60-70 range.

ETA:  I looked at their website and the only Four Roses BP on there is $160.99, with no info on what recipe.  I don't know how current that website is, though.

I’m driving through the South. I found Eagle Rare for $50 at two stores, 1 per customer. I bought both. I found Blanton’s for $80 and you had to buy Castle & Key gin for $30 as a package deal. I went for it since I need gin at home and I don’t want to spend all week trying to find Blanton’s for $60.

These were all from their respective distilleries. $50 for eagle rare is a good deal, think I paid $60 for it in Colorado last year. And I’ve never seen blantons in stock for more than a minute anywhere under $100, so I would have bought that too for $80. I’d never had or heard of castle and key prior to taking a tour there last week. Ended up being mine and my wife’s favorite tour, cool history and their products are really good. I think you’ll enjoy their gin, the mixed drink in the picture has one of their gins in it, and usually I’m not a fan of cocktails but it was great, nice and refreshing.

I’m glad to hear Castle & Key is good. I’ll be using it for gin and tonics so I’m sure it will be fine.

The store I bought my Blanton’s had more bottles, paired with gin of course. Since that’s a pretty good deal, I might pick up a second bottle. $80 is a bit of an upcharge for Blanton’s but $30 is the right price for the gin. My sister lives right next to the store in TN and I’ll be driving back her way in a few days.

There are a lot of benefits to life in Idaho but whisky/bourbon availability is not one. We were supposed to have a lottery this month and this month appears to have come and almost gone. I get a text when BT is in stock and I go buy 6 bottles. I gave the manager a bottle of Don Julio 1942 in the box last month because she held the only bottle of Blanton's she's seen all year.
Christ.

Yep, a lot of stores are using this method to move unpopular bottles by tying them into a bundle as the only way to get the highly desirable one, in this case the Blantons or Eagle Rare.

The prices there are all about MSRP, so it's not really a "deal".

I enjoyed the Stellum SB I had.

But the whole thing makes me think of the Ushanka Show episode where he described how the Soviet stores would combine into package "deal" bs that nobody wanted with things like coffee.
