I’m not sold on the dot thing I have a XL I’m not currently carrying and was thinking for $100 it would be a good way to start exposing myself to a dot on a ccw?
Thoughts? Will it break immediately |

Mine has held up to 2 years of edc. 1 battery change at 16 months.

Use the metal shield that covers it.
My old one dropped from my range bag (about knee height) onto the dirt/rock ground of the range and broke all to shit. It was mounted on my P322. Sig did not care. I have one on my M&P 15-22 rifle with the metal shield. It's a great little optic for cheap $ other than being a bit brittle. |

Had two that shit the bed, a regular romeo zero and a romeo zero elite.
If it's only going to be on a range toy, meh, I'd rather have something else. |

I'd say it's probably fine for testing the red dot on pistols waters.
But, for a few more beans (OK, double), you might think of going with a better choice. I put a 507k X2 (direct mount, no plate and still uses factory night sites) on my 365xl and have been extremely pleased with it so far. |

I have a couple of them, no issues.
They started on P365 variants and have since moved to .22 pistols. |

The Zero has an abysmal reputation. Just get the Holosun 507K.

I’ve been using a 99 dollar Riton dot on mine for 2 years, it still works.

View Quote Crap I didn’t even think of that so I need a plate for the Romeo I have the old 365xl |

I'd tell you that sig sucks based on my experience with my p938 single shot and the way it was handled- but I have a feeling you're in too deep for that to go far.
I will tell you thar I would spend a little more and get a holosun 507k or equivalent. But yes, get a red dot. Beware of cheating out or you will forever hate them. |

I think a Holosun will have better resale value if you don't like it and be a better dot if you do. I don't care for the auto brightness only ones so the manual adjustments on the 407k are nice, and it has a couple little raised nibs on the housing that can be used with the front sight in a pinch.
407k is a 6 moa dot by the way and is about $100 cheaper than the 507k. |

No you won’t need a plate if it’s cut for an optic. But get a Holosun anyway. Better in every respect.

If you are unsure about a dot, set yourself up for best success by getting a reticle that is easy to find the dot-go to Primary Arms and look at the Holosun 507k ACSS. |

I just bought the 365x model that came with an elite factory installed. We’ll see how it holds up. It was 140 more than the regular 365x and had taller sights. Figured it was worth a shot.

I’ve got a Romeo Zero Elite on a XL been going strong over a year, in that year it was carried five days a week in an ankle holster. We’ve had good luck with them.
ETA: The X Compact is a better optic and would be my choice if purchasing today, |

407k or 507k is a good choice too.

Probably should’ve bought a holosun but found a cheap Romeo

-OP asks for advice regarding pistol optic
-OP is advised that the Romeo is complete and total shit -OP is offered good advice as to what optic to buy -OP buys piece of shit anyway. Attached File |

From what I recall seeing on a YT Romeo install there was a double sided tape between the slide and sight base before putting the screws in.
I tried my new XL today and I am seriously impressed. Sweet shooter. Might try a dot on it just for fun. |

Zero issue with no tape on factory installed Zero Eilites on 365xls. Swapped batteries and no tape present or added. |

View Quote IMO, the 407 is a better pistol optic than the 507. The bigger dot is crisper. I wanted to like the circle dot of the 507,but it obscures too much of the target, which slows me down. It also sucks batteries dry really quick. I still have a few 507s, but I leave them set at dot only mode to preserve batteries. Just put your time in to teach yourself how to use a single dot and you'll be a lot better off. |

It’s been on my EDC G48 (non MOS) for over 2 years I think. Holds zero and done 4-5 battery changes. Love it.
