Yes you want the high pressure below you and low pressure above you. Like a wing that is how you create lift the body and skis are compressing the air below and as he moves through the air he has a low pressure in his wake.
He is basically skiing in the air same as water skiing the water is a high pressure fluid and the air is low pressure fluid.
