I talked to mauser this afternoon, he had a renal specialist in checking his case, ordering test and tring to get everything in order.  Unfortunatly it will be another day or so.  He is hanging in there.  Bummed about how long its taking but still making jokes.  He feels ok, its just his labs that need fixing.

He wanted me to tell eagle, that they called to tell him his aluminum upper is ready, but he told the girl he didnt want to be coming in with his hospital butt gown and holding his iv bag to pick them up.  She said he can wait until as he is out of the joint to pick up and its on hold.

He wanted to thank everyone for the support, he really appreciates the kind words.  Soon enough he will be out slinging lead down the range.

I plan on getting a SKS. Is it true that the ones that take AK mags jam a lot?

Thanks for the SITREP Doc.

I spoke with M1 earlier this afternoon also.  My take away on our conversation brought me back to that sage old saying, "The poking and prodding you want, may not be the poking and prodding you get". Or something like that.

So....what OT said.

we are working on getting him a laptop to his room, and I'm gonna go see him Saturday.

Mauser says hello to everyone, and while being in the hospital fucking blows, he's at the Ritz Carlton of hospitals at least.

I got one I'd sell, bit it wouldn't be cheap. (Chi-comm w/ jungle stock, milled trigger group & threaded barrel w/ blade bayonet)

The SKS that takes AK mags may very well jam... MORE than an AK, but the real problem with the SKS-D is that it costs AK prices. (Or I'd have one)

I would never not FO on a Mossberg 500 12ga for $150, an SKS for <$200, or a Winchester Lever for <$300.  HTH.

ETA: I should probably add as a precursor to that last sentence something along the line of "cost willing, budget not so much" or some such disclaimer.

That I dont know and will differ to the more knowledgable about c&r type gun.  I do know the SKS provides a stable shooting platform with a common caliber for a good cheap price.  Get it now before they go up in price and become hard to find like the K98s.

Nothing yet,  Probobly a 3X9 for coyotes or another lower and parts kit or a 22 pistol.  Still up in the air exactly what.  Something though

Have you thought of maybe a 1.5-6 Or something similar? Vortex is putting out that new budget one and the one from primary arms is bad ass.

I don't know if those things are your bag or not, but I find the dual use to be awesome.

Just kidding, I actually find mil dot to be extremely useful.

Have you ever messed around with a the Strelok ballistic calculator app? Enter your load data and zero range, and you can get yardage for every mil dot on your scope. Pretty neat tool for quick shots in hunting or comps.

FUCKING AWESOME SCOPE.

It has the drops for (100 is dead on) 400 and 600 yards and another one for 1,000 I'm guess.

Go forth, $140 bucks

What is the dual use?  1.5 times and then switch to 6 times strength?  I dont even mind my irons out to 100 yards but I dont want to be wounding my target at 200 yards.  Thats not right so I feel like something is important.

Yeah....being at 1x or 1.5 with an illuminated reticle let's you shoot with both eyes open Like a standard red dot. With a bit of training, it's really quick. Then you can switch up to 6x for some more precise shooting. IME, 4 or 6x can be just fine to 400 yards, but that of course is up to you.  If you see one at a LGS see if they will let you play with one. Some people love it, other, not so much.

Well, more specifically, Ferrari was in talks with Henry Ford II to sell Ferrari to FoMoCo, but then broke the deal off because he wanted to retain sole control over Ferrari Racing.  Ford got pissed off and told his engineers to design something to beat Ferrari at Le Mans.

I usually find myself shooting both eyes open with the reticle illuminated on my 1-4x Burris with it cranked up all the way, and it works fine.

I usually find myself shooting both eyes open with the reticle illuminated on my 1-4x Burris with it cranked up all the way, and it works fine.

Yep I've done it too, with Acogs. Once you get used to the idea, it works good.

I shoot by sense of smell alone. (Consider this nothing more than a bump)

When I've had people struggle with the concept, I throw a scope cap on and use it like an OEG.  Easy

So....what OT said.

we are working on getting him a laptop to his room, and I'm gonna go see him Saturday.

Mauser says hello to everyone, and while being in the hospital fucking blows, he's at the Ritz Carlton of hospitals at least.

Good to hear they are taking care of him.

Let him know prayers are continuing for him.

Sweet bit not for mountsrings.  I might be getting some optic on my AR soon.

What did you get?

Nothing yet,  Probobly a 3X9 for coyotes or another lower and parts kit or a 22 pistol.  Still up in the air exactly what.  Something though

Those PA 1.5-6's are very nice for the money.  another very good one for the money is the Optisan 1-4x24, sold by SWFA, $150 with the mount.  I put one on Chef's rifle and the quality of the glass is hard to believe.  I've got a Burris MTAC 1-4x24 on my rifle that I really like, think the glass on the Optisan is actually better.

Booooooooooooo

Yea, kind of bummed.

But, I taped that damn scope to an empty 10/22 stock and went and practiced my ranging with mils

Mils.....gross

Just kidding, I actually find mil dot to be extremely useful.

Have you ever messed around with a the Strelok ballistic calculator app? Enter your load data and zero range, and you can get yardage for every mil dot on your scope. Pretty neat tool for quick shots in hunting or comps.

I always thought those were "busy" till I used one.  They work very well for ranging and wind corrections.  That the one you got form Rick?
