My sister is single parent and is not an outdoorsy type at all, so I try to be a manly figure in his life to the best that I can. We have missed taking him this year. But soon we will be back into the swing of things. Yesterday was a big day for our family, we got our first regular pay cheak in the bank after 8 months. Whew we were desperate and every bill we had was behind. We had a nice large savings (thanks Dave Ramsey) when my wife left her job back in June but we never thought it would take so long. Well all I can say is it is a huge relief and last night I literally was able to go to hed stress free in a while. It felt great. I hope everyone has a great and safe sunday. OK Sa/oU, the wife has been gone on a girl's weekend and is coming back this afternoon. How should I play this?
1) Have the house extra clean and take the kids out to the park right before she gets home to let her get settled for a few minutes. 2) Have the house extra dirty and meet her at the door with frazzled hair and hand her a screaming kid. 3) Change the locks and refuse to answer the door. 4) Send the kids to Nana's and meet her at the door wearing nothing but a smile. 5) Park the truck around back and have the kids scare the bejesus out of her when she comes in. And since it's a federal holiday, my school is out. My wife's school uses MLK as a built-in snow day, and since it hasn't snowed, she doesn't have to work today. FSA married to a government employee is a winning combination. |

Morning Sa/oU feels like a Monday, but it's not.

American Sniper was surreal.
I was in Ramadi in 06, when Team 3 was there, but it was Delta Platoon, and not Kyle's Platoon at the time. IRRC from the book, he was statesite when Mike Monsoor was killed. However, I was part of the wall build mission in Sadr City. I knew we had SEAL overwatch when the wall was going up, I guess at the time it didn't matter who was looking out over us, as long as we got the wall built. After reading the book, I was honored to find out that it was one of the best marksmen in history helping to keep us safe. The movie, of course, didn't do the book justice, but I still felt it was excellent. I got choked up a few times, but didn't cry, thankfully. I think the worst part about the whole 2 hours was that I went with my wife. She told me after the film that she spent the whole time reliving every single emotion she felt when I was deployed and how I was afterward. She's an awesome woman, and I'm thankful for her support. |

Chef said after we got to the car. Taya is one hell of a strong woman. A lot of strong wives out there actually. |

Was given notice couple of weeks ago going to be laid off, last day of work is today.
 Going crazy cleaning up everything off my desk. Firm is hoping influx of accounts will necessitate my return within a few weeks. Not holding my breath but praying it will all work out. In the meantime, heading home for a break from the daily grind for little while; see how shit ends up shaking out. Doing my best to stay positive, living in the moment & not looking too far down the road. (everything happens for a reason & all that....) |
