Been going all of my life (I am 59) and especially got amplified by the internet. Even happening on Arfcom before it was even possible to have a 250 page thread (yes, there used to be a page limit). I am not sure what it is with some people - loving to predict doom. just being that scared or actually wanting it to happen? But it seems to be nothing new, and like anything else that is repeated ad nauseum (like "racism"), I think most people tend to ignore it. I am sort of fascinated by it from a perspective of why so many people seem to be into it. Not sure if it's just a cycle each generation goes through thinking "this will be the end of the world" or what? |
