It takes a lot of grinder work to make my welding look passable. Even then my brother sometimes redid it.
Thats incredible talent.

20 years doing ornamental iron, your bro has a skill I've seen very very very few 23 year olds have. Tell him to stick with it and plan to run his own shop someday if he doesn't already.

We had a guy here at work who could weld on that level.  He was doing Tig work on titanium and asked if he could work four, ten-hour days instead of the normal five-day workweek because setup and take down ate up a pretty big chunk of an eight hour day.  The answer was nope, so he quit after finishing the project.

When the welding inspector came to inspect the work, he said to make sure we were paying our welder well because his work was incredible.  Oops.

For those thinking some fab shop is going to pay him big money, I doubt it. Assuming he does all the fab and fitment, his money would more likely be in making custom or precision pieces in his own shop.

Since no one else has said it: that is some beautiful welding.

Stopped here in the thread. We had a lot of good welders but that really looks machine welded. OP He did that by hand?

A wise man once told me that no matter how good you are at something, there's only one of you and limitless work.  If you really want to grow yourself, you need to recognize when it's time to train up subordinates and replicate your capabilities to multiply your income streams.

Your brother should have an apprentice or 2.

Tig is my favorite and I still do it from time to time and used to weld on that level in my early 20’s now with switching from welding full time to running heavy equipment I don’t get behind the torch like I used to even though my garage is basically a small fab shop. Those welds are absolutely done by hand don’t know of any machine that can get around that pipe like a human hand can to do a roll cage. You want to see some beautiful welding look up some motorcycle or bicycle frames gas welding with bronze that is an art form.

Lol.

while the welds are beautiful, if you are working hourly you might not command much more than that.
Many people can't even recognize the talent, the metal is stuck together, it passes inspection great here's your check.
