War Dogs
based on a true story, about a couple of young guys that get into the .gov contracting business dealing guns and ammo a not so hidden easter egg in the film. Early in the movie when Miles Teller's character is visiting an old folks home, there's a singer performing BOC's 'Don't Fear the Reaper' for a group of seniors. That singer is David Packouz - one of the people the movie is based on, being played by Miles Teller. |

Kubo and the Two Strings
The trailer looked good, but I watched it after recommendations on Arfcom. I liked the stop-action animation, the story was good and unusual. You don't often see kids' movies about the child caring for a parent with dementia (just at the beginning, it isn't like that the whole way through). |

It is pretty good. So far they're sticking with the storyline from the movie. I'm interested to see how they stretch it to more than one seasons worth. |

Saw the new Underworld movie last night. save your money. Completely disjointed, steaming mess. It's like they hired writer directors and editors straight out of film school to make this mess of a movie

Resident Evil- The Final Chapter
If you are a fan of the other movies you should see it, it provides enough answers and closure to make it worth while. Plenty of loose ends but miles above the crap fan film we were given with Phantasm Ravanger. They play up the horror element with jump scares and don't shy away from showing some cool gore but the editing is too choppy for my taste. It is a shame they put the actors and stunt people, one girl was seriously hurt, through these rigorous stints and chop them up in quick cuts so you can't see a single take of the the full stunt. If you are a fan this is a matinee on the biggest screen you can find. I didn't see it in 3D so I can't vouch for that but I'm doubtful with the quick cuts during the action scenes. They give some background at the beginning but I can't recommend it for someone who hasn't seen at least one of the previous five films. Edit to correct title of Phantasm Ravanger, a movie I don't even recommend to fans of the series. |
