Going old school. Not mine, but know the owner. Owner bought it as a 50% restoration and completed the work himself.

Woke up this morning and the kid is at grandma's and the wife unit was at work. So i took the TJ up on the national forest road behind our house. This about 10 minutes drive away from the house.

I hoping i can get the old girl out and wheel her more this year, don't really get to as much as i used to. Raising a kid and buying my first house has been very time consuming. But wouldn't change it for the world.

wow! I wish I was able to run my jeep out behind my house and see the scenery you get to.  Don't worry about finding time and raising a kid.  I got three little boys and I'm able to find time to enjoy my hobbies, you just gotta get good at juggling time, haha!

Thanks

That's an area called Red Sands in far East El Paso - about ten minutes from my house.

I don't understand how you guys go through so many jeeps.  I have had 3 or 4.  I sold them as they became too much of a trail rig to drive.  But 3 or 4 JKs...how does that happen?

That was a solid black trail.  You should see some of the double blacks.

36" SX's under 4" Savvy hardware.

ETA, you're in Alabama?  Look up Adventure Offroad Park in South Pittsburg TN.  They have similar terrain.  I was just down there over New Years.  Good times.

Mojave Sand?

It's a dune complex east of El Paso in the Chihuahua Desert.

It's not very large, but it's a popular spot on the weekends.

Locally, it's called Red Sands.

Noice! Didn't think they looked hyooge and I was wondering how 35s under a 3" lifted LJ would fare. Looks like I would get my money's worth out of my skids.

Local club just went to AOP last weekend. They had a blast...only one got towed home. I'm moving this weekend so I had to stay home.

We have several nice parks within a reasonable driving distance. Hope to get out to more of them this summer.

It'll probably be a slow restore and end up a MB imitation with color and such. It's actually my wife's toy, I just get to do all the work.

Just Emptied Every Pocket - on the New Rubi - it will be a few weeks until I have everything.

2 1/2" Rubicon Express lift - keeping the COG low
Shrockworks bumpers front and rear
Shrockworks sliders
17x8.5 Fuel alloy rims
35" BFG KM2s
JCR tailgate tire mount with hi lift attachment
4:88 re gear

Warn 9500 ti winch w/synthetic line will be ordered after the Shrockworks stuff gets here - that may be as long as three months, if last time was any indicator.

I like their bumpers, so I ordered another set like had on my other JK

All emergency and pioneer gear will transfer from my other rig I'm selling, so I don't need more of that stuff.

Axles will also get some minor reinforcement to better handle the stresses of 35's.

I'm setting this up like my Tacoma - for long range back country exploration, not rock crawling, although this is a little more capable in that area if needed.

This rig is quite a change from the 56 Willys I drove back in the 70's when I didn't have two nickels to rub together.

97 ZJ, 5.2, 3:73s, towing package, trans cooler. 31-10.50-15" BFGs, 2" budget boost. Interior is great, I freshened up the engine 2 years ago, all new bearings, timing set and oil pump from underneath. I don't recommend this course of action lol. I Duracoated the plastics a year and a half ago to see how it would hold up with a constant barrage of rocks from the BFGs, it's been absolutely great. I do Duracoat in the evenings as a small side business, I wanted to have an abuse case to show customers. It was also expensive, I also do not recommend this course of action.

Currently has 2 car seats in the back, a nice little stereo, and 177k on the clock. I plan on keeping it until we absolutely need to upgrade to something larger, at which point I'm sure I'm going to miss it.

My first Jeep.  I picked it up last Tuesday, so it is bone stock, at the moment.  I took it to Black Point Wildlife Drive in the Canaveral National Seashore, about 15 minutes from my house.

In the second picture, the building in the distance, is the Kennedy Space Center Vehicle Assembly Building.  I love this park, you have dinosaurs (alligators) and space ships (rockets) right next to each other.  And two great beaches.

Next excursion, Ocala National Forest...
