Look at youth archery, I think you already have the official bow. NASP or through the 4H, maybe in your schools too.

Also look at CMP 3-position air rifle. Usually sponsored through American Legion or sometimes 4H. The clubs will provide everything but I’m sure you’d buy a rifle and air tank and all the stuff. Your kids might still be a little young. When they get older there’s youth service rifle/highpower.

They might like the structure and competition more than desert plinking, and there are other kids present. As a bonus they don’t have to go to a strip mall and physically fight the weird kid with the angry dad like certain other martial sports.

Also, the adult volunteers have an 80% less molestery vibe than the adults at the dojo.

I had my RAR.22 cut to 16" and threaded.
I stripped it down to barreled action and they threaded it with the receiver attached.

I taught my kids on a couple of single shot .22s. A Remington and a Winchester. Hung up a white bedsheet at 50 feet, made a cinder block and 2x4 target shelf, and pu on soda cans full of water. The sheet allowed them to watch the slugs from the Long CB caps travel. The soda cans full of water would only be penetrated with an entry hole. The slug would stay in the can. They all(4)enjoyed trying to go from high to low on the can to gradually leak out the water.

I have 2 CZ's. Both are really accurate or as accurate as the ammo will let them be.
All my kids are grown but I have 3 grand daughters close to me & I get them to shoot although their not overly excited about it.
Just keep it fun.

Looks like a nice little rifle.

Sometimes an old school .22 is just right.

Luckily both my grandkids are shooters.

Great rifle. Love mine. Small, compact. Super handy and accurate.

Should have snagged the longer barrel one. Plenty of 22 leagues and know your limits. I got smoked yesterday by a 14 year old in a 22 shoot and kids often compete with the adults.

I was running irons on the close up and shot very well. The 100 yds I failed to bring my spotting scope to properly adjust for the range and wind and this kid blew me away.

Granted, his gun cost was 10 times what mine was.

I bought one for my daughter now she will have to fight me for it.  It’s my favorite 22 rifle.

After years of zero interest I took my wife to the range and got her shooting my 455 American. Now I can't get it back.

With Leupold glass she can pop golf balls at 100 yards probably eight shots out of ten. They're great rifles.

I bought a fish and wildlife surplused CZ 452 scout last year
Stole it for price paid
Only thing wrong was action screw needed tightening

Stupid fun and accurate little gun

They are nice shooters.

My eldest girl has a 452.

Order some magazines.
It comes with a single shot sled.

Also got mine from SW.
Haven't shot it yet.

Shot a RAR this weekend.
Little 5 shot cloverleaf at whatever the range was. 10ish yards or so.

Aimless I just noticed you said "ordered". If you have a big sporting goods store that carries them it's worth slipping the counter guy a finski to let you open all the boxes they're holding in inventory. If you follow any of the larger rimfire sites you'll see pictures of rifles with furniture the guys that bought them call "lottery winner" rifles. CZ gets their Turkish walnut from several suppliers (supposedly), and they don't grade out all the highly figured stuff.

Not kidding. This from Rimfire Central:

Got a 457 Royal in 22LR.  A jewel of a rifle that is excellent for your purposes.

Every kid needs a .22 and an Appleseed shooting weekend.

They are a lot of fun.

My first rifle was a pump .22, my grandad gave to me when I was 5 yo. I still have it.

Since you were shopping at Sportsman's Warehouse, you should have got the special edition.   It's an exclusive with a cool black/green/gray laminated stock.   Got one for my son last year.

I did thee same.
But I think that ship sailed.
I don't see it listed anymore.
When I ordered mine it seemed like they didn't have many left.
My stock had some chips, but I just shut up and took it. It's going to get used and I can clean up a stock.

The only thing I detest about CZ rifles is the majority have a backward safety where forward is safe, unlike pretty much every other rifle made.

Thankfully, I think these have a normal safety.

The new 457 safety sucks imo compared to the 452/455

I like the idea of the single shot magazine and replaceable stock for when they grow out of the original one.

What suppressor do you have?  I have a scout and can tell you if the sights will be visible or not.

An AB Littlebird or ECCO Salamander would also fix that.

My 455 is my favorite rifle.

I plan on getting the 457 Scout in the next year or two to start my 4 yo on.
