Put the prices of things; gas, gold, silver, bitcoin, lumber, etc. the fact that at this date we still had 50 states and were called 'The United Stated of America" the stock market measures. The price (estimated) price of the house/property its on. I'd probably throw a HiPoint and a hundred rounds in there too. |

I work for a local municipality, we turned 200 in 1998 and buried a time capsule as part of the celebration activities. One of the items was a VHS tape made of locals wanting to say something to the folk in the future. I wondered about the idea of someone in 50 years having a VCR to play that tape or even if it survives.
I hope to be there when they dig it up in 2048. |

I had a "time capsule" buried in our orchard for twenty some years. It contained an AR-180, a cheap .22 pistol, ammo, cash and a good knife.
But then we bought a house in a "free state," so that SOB got dug up. |

I'd break down a couple of zeroed 10.3-11.5" ar15's...
Separate the upper/lower Remove grip, remove QD optics, remove LPK, slather the metal parts (LPK, BCG, spring) in LPS3 and wrap them in VCI Paper then plastic. Put each rifle in it's own 36" long PVC pipe, toss in some oxygen absorbers, and use PVC cement on the endcaps. With a small stock like a MOE SL-K, you could probably get away with using a 4" PVC pipe. Put optics, unloaded mags and ammo in another PVC pipe. Maybe a couple pistol & holster setups in a third smaller pipe. Digging a 48" hole with a small post hole auger is easy and gets you below the frost line. |

Good suggestions so far.
I guess I shouldn't really call it a time capsule since we're the only ones that will know it's there. It will never be found unless the new owners decide tear off the front steps and redo them or the house burns down and bulldozed. |
