Meh, I like vegetables. There are plenty of great vegetarian / vegan dishes out there. Shit goes south when they start in with the fake meat and soy cheese, or just put in no effort and serve a pile of leaves.

I’m curious. It’s not uncommon for a vegan/vegetarian to demand a vegan acceptable meal at an event they attend. Can a carnivore do the same, or is that different?

Well, someone has to say it - expect a bunch of fruits and nuts.
I dated a vegetarian a few years. The good news is she was vegetarian, not vegan. She had some vegan friends, some of those were even more restrictive than just vegan (that made cooking for them difficult and basically tasteless as they restricted a lot of spices as well). That said, some were lacto/ovo, and some even included fish in their diet - it varies a lot from individual to individual. Honestly I was never hungry around them, and they knew some pretty damn good restaurants that were vegan and given where we were - most restaurants had decent vegan options. At least 1/2 of her friends were gay - but in the gay crowd there were only about 2 man haters. There were more good people to be around than people I wanted to avoid. I always laughed a bit about one of the milder bitches. Vegan and wore leather and had a car with a leather interior... |

Make sure you have a good brunch with lots of bacon before the wedding.
Get small portions of food and eat enough to be polite and then push the rest around your plate. Plan to go out for a steak dinner after the wedding. |

Some vegan/vegetarian meals are great.
The vegetarian MRE was delicious. I think it was Ratatouille? Could always trade for that one easy. You could even unload a scrambled egg MRE to get a vegan MRE. Chili Mac, Ratatouille, Spaghetti and meatballs, and the Mexican chicken ones were my jam. |
