Had a skid steer and equipment trailer stolen from my farm today. Haven’t been this pissed off in a long time. Discovered it around 1:00 this afternoon and I can’t get it out of my head. I got a tip from a neighboring farm owner (I don’t live on the farm) that saw a truck towing a skid steer go by his place from the direction of my barn a few days ago, he gave me a description of the truck. I’m confident it’s a local, so I drove around for about two hours seeing if I could find something that matches the description. Found one about 8-9 miles from my farm. Gave the location to the sheriffs deputy that came out when I reported the theft. Not confident I’ll ever see my shit again but here’s hoping luck is on my side. BASTARDS!!!

Some of the guys I get hay from have had fucking hay bales stolen. Some people have no honor.

Fly a drone over the farm to see.if you can spot the equipment if it's hidden somewhere. I bet the trailer is stashed outside and can be found.

No security cameras? I live in the middle of nowhere. It would be easy to steal everything I own. That's why I have cameras.

Will insurance cover the loss

Was it insured?
I recently purchased a Deere 317G. My insurance agent said they really don’t insure many that are owned outright. The units financed by the manufacturers have built insurance folded into the payment. That stuff goes missing around here as well. |

I’ve had some stuff stolen in the past but nothing of this magnitude. I’m at least thankful they didn’t get my tractor too. I’m gonna buy a few more trail cameras and set some up around the barn. It’s a secluded area. I moved the tractor but I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to come back for it. |

Really looking forward to the day when we don't need to call the cops for this type of stuff.

Crime really isn't a crime anymore.
That being said, cutting thieves hands off used to be a viable method of discouraging theft. |

I hope you get them and the one you spotted already is yours.
I would think something that big and expensive will turn up eventually even if they try and hide it at first. I'd probably be driving around every day of my life and keeping an eye out if I spot the equipment again. |

Given our present state of society they'd just file for disability and the taxpayers would be on the hook for supporting them the rest of their lives. And probably would end up buying them prosthetics and pay for a home aide. |

View Quote We know a single woman, buys hay and brings it home 1 pickup load at a time, then puts it up and repeats. She doesn't put up a ton at a time but a good 100 bales usually on hand. This woman barely has a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. Some pieces of shit backed a trailer up to her barn, went inside, upstairs and cleaned her out loft. The worst part is that if someone had starving animals she would have given them hay. |

Are they adhesive? Obviously they would need to be placed inconspicuously, not sure how effective that would be with farm/construction equipment that gets a lot of heat and dirt/grime. |
