Radio ad today, Ford 2023 lightnings selling at a deep discount. No shit, in the car wolrd it is almost 2025.
A month ago the same dealer was advertising 2022's, so I suppose they have made some progress. Ev's are such a loosing deal for car manufacturers these days but FJB is still pushing the. |

If they were hybrids or plug-in hybrids I might consider them.

I wonder how the people that paid over MSRP for them when they first came out feel lol

|
![]() ![]() ![]() I like taking care of the resources we have but I hope people who are into this whole green agenda fall and skin their face. |

“Deeply discounted”. Probably still well over $50k. Remember when they said they would start under $40k? I member.

How cheap we talking? I've been thinking an electric would be good as a 3rd vehicle (commuter) but I hate econo boxes and won't ride in them.
|
|
All the commercials I see for the lightening and “mustang” are the zero to sixty time, nothing about range or actual usefulness.

Quoted: I'd go $20k. Would be nice to have a vehicle I could charge with my solar panels. View Quote |

Wow my local dealer does indeed still have 2 new 2023 Lightnings. One for 54 and one for 74. But isn’t there a huge tax credit for buying those hunks of shit?

Quoted: For as much as this place is concerned about "preparedness", home solar, home battery storage, and an EV is the most reliable way to guarantee mobility (bonus points to electric dirt bike or UTV). We had a hail storm come through and 100% of my neighbor's solar panels were destroyed. Meanwhile my backyard refinery is still chuggin along. |

They have one at the Ford dealer here. I asked the lady if she expected to sell it and she said she thought it was more there as a "display model."
|
|
Will take one IF they pay ME $100K and it has an on-board fire suppression system. My last 2 Ford trucks caught fire driving down the highway.

For 15-20k I could work with an electric truck as a2nd vehicle , it would still be pretty useless but for local stuff and trips to The dump or hd it would be ok

The lighting isn’t nearly as efficient but it can’t be that bad. |

They don't seem to be discounting 2023's here at the local dealer and they have plenty on the lot. Nothing major on Ford's website either.

Only is it's $20k for a King Ranch model AND I get my tax credits
Otherwise go fist yourself Ford |

Ford can't repeatably build dependable ICE engine vehicles even after over a century. Buying an EV from them would be utterly asinine.

You might want to take a look at your extra solar output and how long that will take to charge up an EV. Dirt bike? Sure, that's possible. Car is not happening. |

If you could get a nicely optioned extended range XLT for $35K new, it might be worth it as a second vehicle. $70K -$95K they can keep it. It should be cheaper than the gas equivalent, since it is more limited in function and will depreciate faster. You'll also need a second vehicle for when you need something with more range.
If they can not build them and sell them for a price where the market demand meets the supply required to efficiently manufacture them for that price, then the business model doesn't work. Subsidies should not be a thing. |
|

My local Ford still has several gas 2023 F150 and F250's on the lot, lots of work trucks too.
