Huh?

Timid little buggers run from everything.  You weight about 1,000 times what they do.  That would be like you laying on on the ground for a nap and failing to notice the 100 ton gigantosaurus stomping toward you.  You practically have to corner one, step on it's tail, shove your finger up it's ass and yell "who's your daddy" to maybe get one to strike.

I wouldn't make it very far in the woods

No, I seen't it. But it took me forever, even knowing that it has to be in the center of the frame (where else would the camera man aim)

Perfect camouflage.

In AZ. Actually right about this season you got to be damned careful at dusk walking trails or MTB. I have been 2 feet from a desert rattler, my friend telling me to look, and couldn’t see the fucker.

One killed my dog in 2015. Died in my arms on a trail in the middle of nowhere. I am highly prejudiced and like someone said above, if I see a venomous snake I’m shooting the fucker on site every single time.

Most people will instinctively put the subject of a photo smack dab in the middle of the frame,
and these pictures prove that, so they were pretty easy to spot.

In nature, I bet it's way harder.

Oh, and that Rattler above in AZ, that's damn good camo too. Nature is amazing.

I actually don't know if snakes show up well on thermal since they're cold blooded. Now I'm curious. The Bobcat thread made me appreciate that thermal exists. I never found it in the picture.

A quality ‘white’ light flashlight has been a good thing to have.

As kids all we had were used miner’s lamps.
Probably best we didn’t know everything we were stepping on.
At night you know they are there when it feels like someone is ‘flicking’ your pant leg.

If your smart you will instantly jump about 3 ft to any direction,
BEFORE looking to see if one of your buddies was just messing with ya.

I coon hunted for years in the dead of night. You didn’t ‘look’ for snakes as they were a given.
Our dogs got nailed but somehow we rarely thought about it.

Until a buddy ……..

I’ve been spotting/avoiding snakes my whole life as a hiker.

I honestly couldn’t find it until it was shown to me.

Yeah ... never count on that int he range of water moccasins, though, which those can be mistaken for.

As soon as  I seen the pic I see the snake, but I've seen probably a hundred in real life and relocated a few.  For the average person they would walker over or step on it.

This one is a good one. If you don’t have a lot of time, watch just Jim’s tale of his encounter with a big rattlesnake. It’s Georgia, I believe.

If he would have gotten you good, you would have been in a pickle.
