Printed the FMDA DD17. The pins dont fit the holes for the rails, and the instructions state to drill these holes out to size using a 3mm and 4mm drill bit. I'm having a hell of a time finding metric bits locally. For those who have done an FMDA did you just buy the right size bits online or did you fudge it and use an imperial bit?

I bought a cheap metric bit set on Amazon, super useful for 3D printed stuff since a lot of small hardware like heatsets and such are more common and cheap in metric.

I'm pretty sure there's something within a thou in a numbered drill index.
3 mm = 0.118"
4 mm = 0.157"

[Last Edit: bionicmonkey] [#3]
1/8 is close to 3mm (3.125mm)
Or 3/64 is like 2.8xmm if you dont want to go over.

5/32 is very close to 4mm (3.99mm)

Metric bits on amazon are worth the small investment.

Grab yourself a wire bit drill set. HF has a cheapo set perfect for what we do since it's only needed to remove plastic.

My P80 kit had 3mm and 4mm drill bits, so I used those.

Reamers are much better suited to enlarging existing holes than drill bits. Get a cheap set on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08ZM48Q6T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

What's the difference between H7 and H8 reamers?

H7 reamer will cut a tighter tolerance hole than H8 but they're chinese so it's a crapshoot either way, plus we're talking about 3D printed parts so you won't see a difference anyway.
