Holy shit.
Best movie I have seen in a very long time. Just unbelievably well done. There was so much to live up to after the first part and they blew it out of the water. Go see it. It's an incredible experience. |

I heard the Sand Worm riding part is amazing
|

|
I'll wait for it to show up on MAX so I can avoid the morons in the theater.

I'm going tomorrow as early as possible to see it. Coworker said it was incredible.

I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

Thanks for the reminder, turns out it's playing in a few days only four miles from me in a Roxy theater.

Even better than the first one?
You better not be playing with me, I couldnt take the disappointment. |

It’s… probably not as bad as you think it is.

Jelly.
It'll be a couple weeks before I'll have the time to get to go. Hopefully that cuts down on the crowds some too. |

Obviously you don't get the same "wow" moments from seeing the sand worms for the first time and taking in the visuals but the story and action more than make up for it. |

It was okay.
Lots of wasted time of Chani making angry girl faces that could have been used to expand on the lore. Walken was a horrible emperor. Part 1 was the better film. |

I 100% agree it was a horrible movie. Way too long, nothing good happened. Snakes were boring, etc. Should have just done a one movie remake. Anything would be better than the original movie. I am so dissappointed in the whole remake!!!

Youngest son and I just rewatched the first one. March is going to be busy for us with Dune, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Godzilla x Kong
|
|
|
Ugh, I have to wait until Tuesday to see it, can't wait.
At least I'm going to the best theater around. |
|

Hell yes! Can't wait. I was a fan of Dune in the early 70's. I remember the excitement when the first movie came out in 1984. I had doubts about the ability to make a movie of such an intricate novel. But they pulled it off. I saw the original until the VCR wore out. My kids still groan when they hear the word Dune.

I just saw it. Great movie. I think Christopher Walken was a little underutilized but still a great movie.
|
|
|
Villeneuve is killing it
|
|
|
It was really good
|
|
|
Did Zendaya do a decent job of Chani??? She was my biggest criticism of the first one, and she only had like 2 lines....

Yeah, we pay our debt sometime

You are pretty much the only person on earth who is disappointed in the remake. |

Read Dune for the first time in the early 70’s as a kid. Dune Part 1 took me back to then. The visuals, the plot, everything basically perfect. This one only loosely follows the book and in doing so loses all of the subtlety and intelligence of the book and Part 1. Really, really disappointing. The specials effects were great… a confection with no real substance or message.

Maybe I’ll get drunk and sit in the back row and sing along loudly with the middle-eastern chant whenever the soundtrack cranks one out …
“aawaa (pause) HAAAAAAAAAA !!” (drink) J/k I’ll buy the DVD and do that at home. Been a fan of the book since the 70’s. |

Today I learned some arfcommers live 2 fucking hours from a movie theater.

Dune 1 was a dud. I assume 2 will be as well. Just not my taste. Then again, I wasn't particularly entertained by any of the Star Wars stuff either.

Are the Harkonnens actually portrayed as cutthroat thugs versus clownish buffoons like they were in the Children of Dune series

I don’t know if I liked it as much as part 1 but it’s good. I have a couple criticisms but not much. Look and sound track is great. Worth the theater trip. Was left slightly unsatisfied, I can’t put my finger on why yet. One of the primary writers also wrote Prometheus which is one of the worst movies ever and suffers a bit focusing on scenes rather than complete story - just slightly. I actually think Timothy is kind of overrated but he cast pretty well as Paul.
Part of it I wanted more lore, more scenes with Baron, a bit more game of thrones dialogue and plotting, more screens of cities people and world building and it wasn’t quite there on Arakus. Harkonsn home world scenes are fantastic. Fight scenes and battles are awesome. In any case I’ll watch it several times like part 1. It’s far far better than most trash out there. I’m seeing it again on Saturday with another group of friends. |

Wife and I just got back from seeing it at a Dolby Atmos theater.
We are already planning on seeing it again. Better than the first one. |
