My best friend and I did that when we were teenagers.
His dad told us to stack and burn a brush pile before we could go fuck off with our .22 rifles. Damn near blew the windows outa the house. No one was harmed, but an epic ass chewing was had. |

There's a video from years back where you can see the fire crawl across the yard and then engulf the dude who started it. It looked badass!

I think we've all done that at least once at some scale that's probably a lot smaller. I always have a jug that's 50/50 used motor oil/diesel mix. It's so effective and easy to light without being all 'splodey.

I asked a lady friend if she believed in angels. She put down her beer and said "Of course! How else do we survive adolescence?" |

I'm actually surprised that he didn't either get his trousers wet with gasoline, or have gasoline fumes in the fabric of his trousers such that when he lit off the fuel on the pile, his clothing would also ignite....he was VERY lucky!

My neighbors lit a bonfire with gasoline and a roman candle.
It shook my house from 400 yards away. I was at the bonfire, my wife is the one that told me it shook the house. |

When I was about 10 or 11 years old my buddy and I were cat fishing below his house. His younger brother came down and said his dad wanted to see us so we stsrted to the house which was about 50 yards away. We had made it a good 30 or 40 yards when there was a massive explosion behind us. His dad said the house windows rattled from it. Anyway we ran back down the hill and his brother had been blown into the river from the blast of an entire 5 gallom gas can he threw onto our small fishing fire. It burned all the hair off his head and he was red as a lobster

I remember belting like 5 years old over 50 years ago, and my dad and uncle starting a fire to get rid of a bunch of brush, etc.
Never use gas to do this. You can use diesel, maybe kerosene, but never gas to do this. “OK” It blows my mind that to this day, decades later, people call ambulances and show up to ERs with injuries and burns from starting fires every day with gasoline. Common knowledge kids have been told forever and people still do it. |
