If so, what is your discipline?
And what is your classification? And, Why did you choose this one? |

I shot two-gun once, but for most of my time shooting, I've preferred pistol competitions.
I do want to get back into it and give some 2-gun, action pistol and/or DMR-type stuff a chance, but I'm currently priced out of competing. |

Uhh shot a two day PRS match last weekend. Class is pro and I chose it because it’s fun. Prefer two day field matches, rifle man team challenges etc. Fun teamed up with a friend shooting shit up in the mountains.

I have always been interested in consistent accuracy at range with a service rifle. Tournaments are 200/300/600 yards. Most tournaments are held on 200 or 200/300 yard ranges in my neck of the woods, but several full course events are within easy driving distance. I can shoot surprisingly fast for an old geezer if I need to. Sprinting from target to target isn't really my thing closing on 70 years old. |

I've been a decade+ absent from competitive shooting. Focusing on picking up PCC and rimfire stuff this year. May lead to other things.
Biggest reason for that choice is mostly based on what's available locally and something I haven't done in the past, i.e., something new and different. |

My fourth ELR event is coming up. I really enjoy hitting far away tgts. Starting to get a little better at it. I shoot light class.
When your bullet time of flight is 2-4 seconds and winds are up 25 mph gusting to 40+ mph it can be a pretty humbling experience but also exhilarating when you are hitting a 36” square tgt at 2000m. Wouldn’t mind getting into NRL Hunter or PRS Tactical Division comps. |

I did NRA high-power (reduced course of fire only), cowboy action and Ruger rimfire with rifles. As with pistol competitions, I was always in the middle of the pack and decided I just don't enjoy structured.... anything. Give me a good day shooting with friends or alone at an uncontrolled or private range and I'm much happier.

Nothing like mentioned above, but I did participate in the 'geezer Olympics' for a few years.
Benchrest, that is. 100, 200 and sometimes 300 yards. Expensive but loads of fun. |

I am 50 miles east of Asheville on 40. There are some guys at my club that shoot 3 gun, one of the sons is a national level competitor, and I know they welcome new folks. |

Used to shoot the military rifle match every month at my old club in Maryland.
And we occasionally shot high power NRA courses with match AR service rifles. The latter felt too formal and stuffy, and the former became too full of crotchety old fuckers who would forget that we’re all there to have fun. Argue over everything. |

I occassionally shoot local NRA/CMP High Power matches, reduced and across the course. I'm a garden variety High Master in the Service Rifle class. I got into it maybe 7 years ago after buying my 1st Garand and remembering how fun it was to shoot the DCM High Power matches with my grandfather back in 1990-1991. The first year, I shot my Garand for kicks, and then built a Service Rifle to be competitive. I'm still just about having fun, though, and don't approach it too seriously.

Yep. And I bring my kids along shooting with me.
Highpower, XTC, Mid-Range and Long Range (mostly focued on Palma for LR). It's in my sig line: NRA High Master in all three disciplines. CMP High Master-Rifle. Distinguished President's 100 Got into it back in 1999 around high school days, knew about Highpower before then, but not how to get started. Later, shooting on my own dime as well as the Marine Corps issuing Service Rifles and ammo for me to burn up. Fairly serious into XTC. Not as much into LR and mid-range since I enjoy the suffering of shooting offhand at 200 yards. After legging out some years ago, I went to primarily Match Rifle. Much like driving stick shifts, I like shooting bolt actions in the rapid fire stages. Still shoot Service Rifle some. Figure if my kid is shooting Service Rifle, I may as well do it too. |

You are in the same state as one of the nicest ranges in the country, the Taladega Marksmanship Park. If that is too local, consider this as a formal invitation to Camp Perry this summer to shoot the National Matches.
My family shoots CMP Service Rifle, but rimfire and pistol are also fun. If you can't make Perry, Camp Atterbury will shoot the NRA Nationals a few weeks apart. Positional shooting disciplines are a great way to learn the complexities of good marksmanship. Training dynamic shooting in addition serves as a great complement once you learn good fundamentals. |

I used to shoot tactical precision/sniper matches until I got injured and couldn't keep up with it anymore.
