All of my windows came with screens. I took them out when I installed the windows, and have yet to put them back in.

Do people still use them? Does it depend more on what region you live in?

Unless you live in an area where nothings going to randomly fly or jump or crawl in, yes i like screens in my windows lol. We have nice weather about half the year so unless the pollen's not too shitty then there's usually some windows open.

Yes. If you ever open your windows, they will keep the bugs out of your house.

I used to take them out for the winter just to increase the quality of the view, but the screens on my new windows are pretty unobstructive.
For summer, 100% in because I like opened windows, but dislike mosquitoes, gnats, birds, spiders, etc.

Our windows have screens that retract into the top of the frames

Yes we use them when we open the windows

All the windows have screens, and the storm doors have screen panels that replace the glass in fall and spring.

Yes.
I couldn't imagine not having them in Florida. I'd end up with a house lizard infestation.

I have some windows with and some without. I even have half screens on my double hung windows, so the screen covers to opening and the top has unobstructed view.

We open our windows a lot.

In Phoenix area. I use bug screens for winter and sun screens (95% light blocking) in summer.  No screens on view windows but they don't open anyway and face north.

Yeah between mosquitos, gnats, and flies having screens on windows are a vital necessity around here

We have screened windows and doors all year.

Regarding climate, we open our windows and doors all year unless there is a cold snap during the "winter" months.

We do not have (or need) air conditioning, at all.

Screens stay ready in the window so I don’t have to get ready to open it.

Nope, but there are other unwanted critters that my screens keep out....

It's 2024. Windows are double pane at minimum, and screens are self-storing.
I do not change outer storms to screens each year like my grandfather did.

50 years old and I have never removed a screen except for once or twice to clean some.

I leave them in but never open my windows except for maybe occasionally airing out something burnt.

Bugs, birds, and squirrels. Screens stay in place.

I have double-hung windows, and they all have screens. Also, the screens can be raised and lowered like the lower part of the window. They've never been out of the windows since they were installed in 2011. And the only time they've ever been raised was when I was doing some extra cleaning a couple years ago.

We got skeeters/gnats, flies, birds, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. And they'd all come in through open windows if there were no screens. Also, my cat would definitely try to come in through the window if there weren't any screens on the 1st floor windows.

I'm just happy the weather is nice enough to open my windows, let the breeze come in. Screens are nice to keep bugs out.

Hell yes we use 'em.  Got a whole house fan, can't imagine what that thing would suck in through the windows without screens.

we have casement windows, screens that pop in and out. They don't seal tight tho so we have to tape the gap to seal them completely.
Otherwise we have all sorts of small bugs get in the house.
Having windows open and lights on at night lures all sorts or critters to the house.

We will close the house up in the morning and open it up around sundown, no need for A/C except maybe 1/2 dozen days of the year.
Night times are cool enough that plus well insulated house is all we need.

I have casement windows, and the screens are on the inside of the window and stay there year round.
I use my windows and a whole house attic fan all summer long to cool the house down at night so the screens are necessary.
