Electricians were here doing some light install and had to move a few light fixtures. A few rooms got some drywall dust on the newly refinished hardwoods and I'm having a time getting it off.

Any tips?

So far:
1. Taken 6.5 HP shop vac and aggressively hit all the areas with wide bristle attachment
2. Swiffer/mopped remaining residue multiple times with either water or Bona hardwood cleaner

As soon as it dries there a white haze on the floor. It's driving my crazy.

How newly refinished?  In my experience it cleans up easily with that procedure.

Also,  smooth or hand scraped?

Try wiping with mineral spirits. It sounds like your finish wasn't fully dry. You may also have scratched the finish, especially fresh, with your brush.

But again, buffing with mineral spirits might shine it up. If you have high gloss finish, once it's fully cured, it is easy to use automotive polishing compounds to bring back the shine.

Are you letting water or cleaner dry on its own?
Try water and dry/buff with a microfiber.
Sounds like it's just getting spread around and not getting lifted off the surface.

Industrial floor sander should do it.

Lowes flooring dept. Sponge
Hands and knees scrub it with the sponge just to loosen the powder.  While still on hands and knees Vacuum with a shop vac. Hard plastic tip.  Wrap a touch of blue tape on it your worried about scratching.
Liquids won't help. The soft bristle brush tip is crap.

Cancel payment on their work until they finish the job. If we let drywall dust get to a floor, we cleaned it up on our dime. Period.

Will add, the brushes that come with shop vacs can be used to remove rust.

You need a fine horsehair brush or similar.
