I did 5 rooms already, didn't think she'd do one on her own but here we are.  I'm proud of her inky gypsy ass.

Yup.

I used it ten years ago in a bathroom here.  It has held up so amazingly that I was perfectly okay doing the entire house.

Interesting.
I had to remove mine when installing LVP.
It had 20mm wear and rubber padding on the bottom.

Is that stuff super thin or something?

Yeah Op unless you cut down the trees and drug them downhill by hand then milled and planed them yourself into aged and dried floor boards don't even post its not impressive

What he really means is he did 5 rooms already years ago and has been putting of this last one until his wife finally got tired of it and did it herself.

Looks great! It's awesome having a spouse/SO that's willing and capable of helping with projects around the home. It makes things so much easier and enjoyable.

On another note (not to derail the topic) isn't it interesting what people do to make their domicile their own? For example, when I bought my house, I spent hours ripping up all the vinyl floor boards the previous owners put in. I did leave the kitchen area, but I replaced all the bedrooms and living room with a really nice carpet. And when I say hours, I mean hours. They glued the boards down and used roughly 1 gallon of glue per square yard. Wow, it was incredible the amount of adhesive underneath those boards!

Lucky man.  My Lady treated the lawn yesterday with some fertilizer and bug killer.  I can't stand lazy women that won't do projects around the house.

I've heard that most of us have been getting this saying wrong since basically forever. It's not a wild "hair" up your ass (like an ingrown one or whatever), it's supposed to be a wild HARE up your ass, as in a rabbit's larger cousin that shoved itself up your tar star and now is making you so crazy that you're going to do some crazy shit. However that may be bad intel; hopefully one of our resident entomologists can clear this up.

Good luck with that stick down shit.  In high traffic area the glue will seep at the edges and the planks will shrink.

Yes. I actually know nothing about that plywood.  But, you see, it had 350 in the name.  I use 350 in my name.  So, the association was made that since I’m the best, the plywood would be the best.

Sorry for your problems with the builder.  Glad your floor is getting done.  Even better, glad you got some help.

(For the record, the first part was sarcasm, the second was not.)

Like I said, I trialed this stuff for years in other areas.  It has held up amazingly well to kids, pets, spills, etc.

I wouldn't do the entire house with it if it was junk.

Not an illusion, some of the planks have a curl to them that keeps popping up.  It takes a few days/weeks for them to all settle in.

Those will settle down with traffic, gravity and will last well.
Anything is better than carpet, even bare particle board or plywood.

They make that shit look so easy in the commercials. It’s a little more complicated than shown. You need to have a perfectly flat floor if you expect it not to crack down the road. I mean billiard table flat. If not, you need to use epoxy floor leveler throughout. Your wife should be using an underlining blanket thingy too. Those give cushion and seem to prevent cracking. It’s also a good idea to buy at least the medium grade/thickness LVP. I had one of my houses crack so bad that I paid a different company to tear it out and replace with new mid-grade stuff six months after initial installation. I had around $20K total in that floor.

See that's the beauty of this cheap shit.

It's very flexible and doesn't give a shit about any of that.  I do agree that a lot of LVP just snaps like a cracker and cannot conform to anything.

If you're chasing perfection, yeah, lay down plywood, etc.  However, I grew up in a farmhouse built in 1807, my wife grew up in a 50's shitbox, to us floors aren't supposed to be skating rink flat

Same. I replaced it with the composite trim. Never again! That shit is like trying to nail rubber. The brad nails just bounce off.

The number of times people confuse entomology with etymology bugs me in a way I can't put into words.

Wife (mine, not yours) helped me do our upstairs flooring. Oooooh boy, there was a learning curve, but it was nice to have the help once she got there.

This is what the flooring guy did in our house. He also didn’t use leveler to get the floors flat like a skating rink. I was not happy at all. When he said he would treat our house like it was his own my spider senses started tingling. Heard it before from a flooring guy and the project took 10 days instead of 2 days. Lazy MFers cashing in on a labor and supply shortage. What are you going to do, tear it out and wait 6-9 months for materials and find another floor guy that works when he wants to?
