Compton couple filling potholes on their own gets cease and desist from the city A Compton couple that has been filling in potholes around the community by themselves has received a cease and desist letter from the city, threatening legal action if they don't stop. |

Typical city government.
Someone should sue the shit out of them. |

There's so many holes in Compton they didn't think anyone would notice.
|
|
I'd buy that for a dollar!
|
Wow that's crazy. What's the city mad about?
I didn't think anywhere there would care, good for them. |
|
|
Another fine example of proof the government hates you. As if you really needed anymore proof.

I wonder if that would be something they could get a televised jury trial for. That'd be good TV.

The city always blames their laziness on covid.

Can you imagine if the people figure out the servants are not needed
It'll be like dogs & cats living together |

People from a shitty area try to improve their shitty area... government stops them.
Imagine my surprise. |

I’ve been pulling a yard drag down the county road because I can do more good than the road grader. Colorado will be next to bring legal action against me.

Could this be a liability thing?
Residents do a bad repair, city gets in trouble? Residents get hurt performing a repair, city gets in trouble? |

The pendulum is broken

I would bet dollars to donuts that its a union issue and the union forced the city to action

I asked the county about grading the road in front of my house. The county road maintenance supervisor told me if I ask them again they will slap a private road sign on the road and all the people on it will have to maintain it. Useless fucks. .

BTW Los Angeles only fixes streets that don’t have to be fixed. Unfortunately everyone knows that.

Or the city workers are union and they complained about non union work being done. There was a story from a decade or so ago about a trade show in NYC. All setup of the booths was to be done by union workers. The booths had been constructed, but the union electricians hadn't been through. A booth worker plugged in an extension cord to test the booth lights. Overnight the union workers trashed the booth because a non union person touched the electrical. |

They were actually using a tamp, something I have NEVER seen a government worker using in my entire adult life. We used them, we even used air tamps, some of my cold patch repairs are still out there decades later STILL in better shape then the typical shit government road workers do after 2-3 weeks. |

Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.

A while back in Seattle someone painted a crosswalk at a place that is dangerous as the chance of a pedestrian getting hit is high. Residents had been asking for a LONG time to get a crosswalk painted there. Never was done so someone painted one.
Well wouldn't you know it, the city found the money and crews to get out there to scrub that surface and remove the unauthorized crosswalk. |

Imagine if people start fixing the roads by themselves. What other stuff might they start doing themselves? Maybe a volunteer community library? Think of all the cushy public servant jobs that might be eliminated. |

My business was on HWY frontage with a service road as our access. It was continually filled with pot holes which were KILLING our trucks. I started filling holes in until TxDOT came and threatened me. I said fine. I'll just come fill them in on the weekends when you lazy fucks aren't at work.

Those two people just put 300 people out of a job. No wonder they are pissed. Surprised the road crew foreman didn’t do a drive by on them.

Unsurprising lol
Of course the problem is Muh Covid. |
|
|
Didn't Schwarzenegger do this and got all sorts of praise and press coverage?
I guess this is different... People in the community should just flood the DOT with damage claims for busted tires and rims. Then it becomes a much bigger problem for the .gov |

They are getting punished because they are making the city look bad.

That being said, they about lost their shit when we met with a local road contractor to begin the effort ourselves. |

There's a pothole near me that I've been tempted to fix myself, but any shit repair I attempted would probably just wind up making it worse.

View Quote Around here they just pour a half-ass mixture of gravel and asphalt tar, then take off. Literally two weeks later, the pothole is back and worse than ever. Best is the fucking concrete highway patches. They just pour loose gravel in them. No other effort is made. |

They can't do that without legal abandonment of the roadway and transfer to the private property owners. |
