You can send back Vortex bino's that have been run over by a bulldozer and they'll fix them or replace them no questions asked. Or maybe that's just the Razor stuff, I'm not certain. |

I really like my Leupold pro guide 10x42. For the money they are hard to beat. I’ve checked out quite a few vortex and a couple others in the 4-500 dollar price range and the Leupolds were the clearest. I would like some laser range finding binos.

They got new lenses, new seals, a new eye adjuster thing, and new eye cups all free of charge. |

I paid roughly $3K 5 years ago, the new ones are running close to $4K. I mean, add the cost of the binos and the cost of a LRF, and you're only stretching your budget a little. and it's worth it. |

It costs a lot to make the new style Prisms perform well. Correct. Porro prism optical physics are much more favorable. The Nikon Action Express porro prism line is decent at 100~200 dollars. Someone mentioned wide angle, the Nikon AE 7x35 has a 9.3 degree field of view which very few binos can match. |

Try looking at binocular ratings on birding websites for guidance. I bought a set of Vortex Diamondback 8x32 for general purpose binos based on their recommendations.

It's been a long time since I had to do any binocular shopping. I've had entry level to mid price range Leupold and Pentax and been very happy with both.

Image stabilization is worth WAY WAY WAY more than any brand name fanciness unless you are <8x or on a tripod.
I've looked thorugh Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski, Nikon and Vortex. I have Canon, Pentax, Celestron, Leopold, Minox, Celestron, and Brunton optics. My Canon IS 15x50 kicks the shit out of any of the above. For low mag I have a Minox 6x mono. For tripod I have a Leopold 15-45x60 spotting scope. |

I've been impressed with the Bushnell Legend 10x42s that I've had for a few years now. Very bright and clear. They were barely more than $100 on Amazon.
Looks like they've gone up a bit since. Bushnell Legend Binocular 198105 L-Series 10x42mm |

Bino threads are always funny . It all depends on what you are going to use them for . Looking over towards the neighbors house to see what he's up to , getting beat up in the seat of a sxs or truck , sitting in a tree stand watching a deer 100yrds away
Vortex Diamondbacks are pretty damn nice . Sitting on a mountain from daylight to dark glassing all day Swarovski is what you seek . I have both . |

I have Steiner military marine 10x50. Owned since the late 80’s. Large, heavy, but nearly indestructible.
Technology has greatly improved since my purchase, but they have lasted and I can’t justify new ones now. |
