I think you have to download the Tubi app on your Roku.

The story line is very good, just remember that the effects were state of the art….for the early 90s.

It wouldn't be better.

The story and the characters carried it.

B5 would be great in 240p with stop motion animation for the FX shots.

If this is the same one that's on Roku it's the remastered version that used to be on Max. The CGI is obviously still in SD but the live-action shots are in HD and look great. Everything is in 4:3 to maintain consistency between live action, CGI, and composite scenes.

This.  It's a great series, but trying to watch it again in the original low resolution is just unwatchable.  I tried.  Have they remastered it for this?

The CGI is terribly dated and it could be a lot better. But I think the story and plot would work as a stageplay, as a novel, or as a series of fireside stories.

Really good content tends to transcend the medium you use to tell it.

Agreed. And I say that as someone that was neck deep in the Amiga computer back in the day and fascinated by the product turned out by the Toaster. I tried a few years ago and just couldn't get past the low res quality.

Probably in my top 3 FAVORITE Science Fiction TV episodes ever. I love Babylon 5.

"Zathras lives for The One. Zathras will die for The One." Such a brilliantly acted character, too.

I don't think all of the actors are still alive. The story and actors definitely carry it. Not to say the CGI is bad, it was the best at the time it's just 30yrs old and does show it's age.

There were a lot of great guest appearances on the show … maybe Walter White? I know he guested for a minute on the show at some point.

David McCallum (for the boomers)

And the bad guy, karate guy from Roadhouse.

There's 30+ year old CGI that holds up.

I think the difference is that they were going for realism with what they had. But doing that instantly dates your visuals.

Tron is older CGI and it doesn't look nearly as dated - because they weren't going for realism.

Nail, meet hammer.

Londo was absolutely a warning about hubris, and how nemesis would show up and punish you for your hubris and you couldn't avoid it. Along with very strong themes of riding a tiger - you can't stay on, you cant' get off safely, you keep doubling down, until inevitably you fall off the tiger and it mauls you.

There's not a single arc in the show that doesn't get fleshed-out or satisfactorily ended. The whole show is multiple allegories for government, control and power.

J. Michael Straczynski had complete arcs outlined for all the characters, including escape plans and introductions for actors leaving the show and their replacements.  That's how he was able to write practically the entire show himself, which I understand is a unique achievement.

Unfortunately he didn't have a plan for being cancelled at the end of season 3 but given season 4 to wrap up everything he intended for seasons 4 and 5, then renewed at the end of season 4 by surprise after he used up all his story and having to wing season 5 with random messy post war plot lines.

I actually like most of season 5's random messy post war clean up aspects anyway, that's at least something nobody else does, but it's obviously not as thought out and polished as his original 5 season war arc.

The CGI was mostly done (all the ray-tracing) with the Amiga Toaster (consumer grade) and was done to prove out that studio level CGI (millions $$$) quality could be done with about $40k in equipment. All this circa the early 1990s of course.

I beg to differ.

I would have loved to have seen what JMS would have done with ivanova's character if she had stayed on the show.

Not to say the character was handled badly.
