There was a book written about twenty or more years ago by a retired military officer. It is set in West Virginia. It is set in the 20th/21st Century. At the end, the General who leads the war is captured and executed by lethal injection. He was going to do a second book, but the Pentagon told him not to.
Anybody know what I am talking about? |

Sounds a bit like "One Second After" by Forstchen but, not exactly.

You shpuld also look for Blue Dawn series by Blaine Pardoe for something a bit more recent and cheeto oriented.

That sounds reminiscent of J.L. Bournes Tomorrow War, although I don't think that's what you are referring to.
