Exactly. It was worth more stock. And it sure as hell isn't worth 70K.

and even if you did pay 70k, you'd still have to ditch that goddamned lift pump.

Agree.  Perfect truck for Twister 2 if left stock.

He knows what he got. Cummins ## valve.

Well, lots of us know that is somewhat of a unicorn .

Big question is how much some deep pockets guy is willing to pay for it?

That truck has passed from a great old truck that could do many things to some kind of hardly available collectable that you would be afraid of driving or using .

If it isn't something that someone can use except for a car/truck show what's the point?

70k is insane. I could see 35-45k. Maybe a little more without that paint job.

I know where a 95’ 3500 4x4 reg cab flatbed 5spd dually 12v is that has 34k miles.. but the dude won’t sell. It’s sat in his driveway now and hasn’t moved for 3+ years. Can’t even see through the windows with all the mildew/dirt/pollen on the exterior. I want it for a farm truck.

I remember the quality of Dodge's plastic interiors in those years.  At this age, as soon as you started driving it, the interior is going to fall apart.

Finding a Diesel with very low miles and without the EGR/DPF EPA bullshit must be a big deal!?

Deletes can still be done.  You just have to get the parts from Canada, and have the ECM unlocked.

How's the transmission holding up with that many miles?

FASS or Airdog for less that $1,000 cures that.  But still $$$$ and time.

I would be worried about the transmission, so much so I bought the 6-sp manual in 2003.

I had a 99 Cummins 24v with NV4500 5Speed manual transmission.

That motor was fantastic.  Everything else built around it was hot garbage, including that transmission.  There wasn't a single system on it that didn't give me problems.  Hubs, front end, door latches, anything interior, multipurpose control switch, throttle position/dead pedal, 5th gear nut, low pressure fuel pump (these only go out once you fill the tank all the way up), vacuum pump & engagement fork for 4wd, and of course.... cracked dash.

For every three days I drove it, I'd have to spend a day fixing it.

Mine’s a ‘04.5 with 120k miles.  I’d take the first $20,000 that was offered.

Yep. More sought after motor, no weird paint job, only 40k more miles, and its $24k less than the truck in the op.

This truck sold at a Hansen Auction local to me last fall for around $38k. Someone is trying to flip it big time.

I don't think it's quite that bad, the top of the dash on my 03 is shattered but there's no cracks anywhere else in the interior. I think it's sun that kills the plastic, so garage stored and  UV-protected examples might be OK.

My auto (48RE) has 210Kmi on it and it's still going strong. There's just no margin for tuning on the torqueflight trannies, they detuned the engines to keep the transmissions alive.

In '03, my DRW SLT 4x4 cummins cost $31K.

Call me crazy, but I prefer the square-body /OBS Dodges over the "Big-Rig" design

And no, I don't see that truck being worth 70 grand. But all he needs is that one guy who does

I bet there is a crack between the exhaust valves in the head.

It's a safe bet almost all of the 24v 5.9's did it.

Nice truck. Most of them around that year or before were hard on ball joints and front brakes. I have a friend with a 98 that goes through front brakes every 15k miles or so. He also has an issue with the ecm.
