For agricultural use like yours OP (which includes timber tracts) it would be similar here. 5ac minimum in open acreage and 7ac minimum if wooded to qualify. If you ever sell a few acres then the buyer gets hit with roll back taxes which means they pay the normal rate unless they buy enough to qualify as ag exempt as well.

Last year it was $5383 for my townhouse on 1/8 (yes, one eighth) acre.  It of course went up this year. It always goes up.

Plus property taxes for the privilege of owning my cars, and business property taxes on my computers and my desk.  Yes, the assholes tax my fucking desk.  Every year.

What fucks me on property taxes is school taxes which is the vast majority of property taxes here in PA. Plus they penalise you for improving your home- deck, paved driveway, landscaping all a penalty. I have a nice looking smaller modest home on less than 2 acres - $3800 per year. People living in a run down trailer with a dump in their front yard on a dirt road pay next to nothing...more junk=less tax penalty.

I think its time to one, roll back local government/school spending (of course) and two, shift the school tax burden here away from the property owner to a sales a tax. At least that way momma, baby daddy and their spawn living in public housing get to share the cost of schooling their kids.

God help us if that dipshit Wolf wins the election for goveroner.....  rent some dump & blow all your money @ the bar...pay no taxes...put all your money into your property...get hosed...

Way too much! My home and the 2 acres it sits on is $1980. My business sits on a little less than an acre in town, pay about $6500 per year. I also have to pay property tax on my equipment to the tune of about $8K per year, that is the one that pisses me off the most.

I own just over two acres of vacant land in one township and pay about $200.00 on it.  On the property my house is on, I pay over $1,000 in property taxes but it also has some special assessments for a new dam and lake management that are another $1,000 a year.  Hopefully the special assessments are supposed to be done in December so I will save about $1,000 a year.

WOW, I am really surprised at some of these property tax bills.

I pay $1600 for $600k assessed home in southern california. (Suburb of San Diego)

I did luck out though. Here in CA, back in 1978, Proposition 13 passed. It had ramifications for both personal and business property taxes and one of those benefits is that if a home is passed to family, that family retains the 1978 property taxes. Needless to say, after my parents passed, the wife and I decided to keep the house.

Yeah, the liberals here in CA HATE prop 13. They clamor on about how much more revenue they'd have if they overturned it. Never gonna happen.

Also, Wyoming has NO state income tax, and NO mandatory vehicle inspections. There are no extra school levys or other bull**** fees.
