Don't know never tried muskrat before, but I have heard that they taste similar.

If you look at them side by side, most people cant tell the difference if they are the same size.

It is really strange how these Rough-tough Arfcom members can talk about being ready for SHTF, or whatever, when they may have to eat thir dog or cat, but put something like your post on and all of a sudden they become the armchair pussies that can't handle the sight of an animals head in a dinner pick! So sad

IMHO you get a 10+/10+ for your post. I never had a Nutria but it just looks like a big squirrel to me. Would love to try some, Yumm!

Thanks bud, I figured this would bring out some people who wouldnt survive a true SHTF scenario.

Oh and to everyone who says they will just live off of deer......if it gets bad (unless you live in an extremely remote area)....critters like this will be all that is left in a few weeks/months.

We currently have alternatives. I have eaten squirrel before, wasnt bad at all. Compared to chicken I have available squirrel is gross.

I am a bit surprised by the replies.

Presentation is a bit rough (head and tail and so forth) . Not like it is a dump rat eating crap at the town dump, wild animal out in the wild eating plants and bark and wild stuff. I would try it.

Like the man said , if the SHTF this is going to be the hit of the week in a short time after we wipe out all the deer in a couple of weeks. Not like I am going to search this critter out as long as the supermarket and the local farmer are still in buisness but meat is meat. Some stuff is better off left for a big pot of stew
