Does a nutria smell like a muskrat when you skin it? Don't know never tried muskrat before, but I have heard that they taste similar. If you look at them side by side, most people cant tell the difference if they are the same size. |

It's... both repulsive and cool at the same time. Sorta like eating a Tijuana prostitute's pussy.
10! |

wtf is wrong with you southerners? first the raccoon dinner, and now this? That's not southern fare. Only real coon-asses eat that shit. |

Hell, what is wrong with all you "Eeewww, It's GROSS" girls?
Here, the meat's worth more than the hide, can't GIVE away the fur! Yet if you GIRLS knew that the female nutes had their nipples on their backs, you'd all be lining up to dance with one! |
|
Fuck yeah man, it's meat.
You guys wanna see something weird? Watch Strange Eats on the travel channel. What you got there, OP, is good eatin'
|
|
I have eaten tree rat before so I guess water rat would not be that far of a strech.
|
|
Dude, seriously cut off the fucking head! I don't care if the brains and cheeks are edible.
-2 for peas... they are the only really gross thing in the thread other than the fucking teeth. |
|
I didnt know anyone ate those, I see them all the time down by the lake and always want to shoot them but its the middle of the city so prob not wise. Might have to try your recipe one day, thanks.

Despite my revulsion, I'll give you 7/10 just for the "It's the third week of SHTF, what are we gonna eat now?" factor.
But, still... TC ETA: I'll bet the dude in my avatar would appreciate it. |
|
It is really strange how these Rough-tough Arfcom members can talk about being ready for SHTF, or whatever, when they may have to eat thir dog or cat, but put something like your post on and all of a sudden they become the armchair pussies that can't handle the sight of an animals head in a dinner pick! So sad
IMHO you get a 10+/10+ for your post. I never had a Nutria but it just looks like a big squirrel to me. Would love to try some, Yumm! |

|
Reminds me of the racoon dinner pic a few months ago. I guess you get a 10 merely for killing and eating that...thing.
Edit: Just showed the wife. "That's some disgusting crap." Wife does not approve. |
|
Thats one nasty looking rat!!!
I've got to be starving to eat that. |
|
I'd definitely try it. You and the coon guy get a 10/10 from me. I'm gonna have to try these things for myself sometime.

8/10 Without removal of the head/teeth and tail before bringing it to the table you have proven yourself to be an unlettered barbarian so I am deducting two points.

Thanks bud, I figured this would bring out some people who wouldnt survive a true SHTF scenario. Oh and to everyone who says they will just live off of deer......if it gets bad (unless you live in an extremely remote area)....critters like this will be all that is left in a few weeks/months. |

The only gross thing I see is the fucking margarine. Seriously man, everything tastes better with real butter.

How did you "get" the Nutria? Rifle? Shotgun? Pellet Gun? Trap? Your score depends on your answer. But................. "looks good" "I would eat it" "It will make a turd" CB Cap to the neck at 40 yards? Mushrooms? Gravy over Rice? You killed it, cooked it and photgraphed it? 10 of 10 |

The meats pink like rabbit and its also very lean. I like it smothered in brown gravy & sliced andouille sausage , served over white rice. You'd like it if you also like rabbit. |

Fuck it, I'd try it.
9/10 Smokie, where can I get a fullsize pic of your avatar? |

To each their own.. |

I am a bit surprised by the replies.
Presentation is a bit rough (head and tail and so forth) . Not like it is a dump rat eating crap at the town dump, wild animal out in the wild eating plants and bark and wild stuff. I would try it. Like the man said , if the SHTF this is going to be the hit of the week in a short time after we wipe out all the deer in a couple of weeks. Not like I am going to search this critter out as long as the supermarket and the local farmer are still in buisness but meat is meat. Some stuff is better off left for a big pot of stew |
