The hijab is more cultural than religous/modest in most Muslim/Arab cultures. It's only a few that take it to the extreme.

I guess most of you have never been to Kabul. Women go around wearing tshirts and tight jeans all day there.

Arab women are often extremely attractive. It's just hard to tell most of the time.

If you've ever met college aged Atheist or Christian Arab women, they are often absolute knockouts. You see it in Mexicans too. There was considerable mixing of Arabs and Spaniards 1000 years ago, and quite a few Lebanese immigrated to Mexico. Here is one of the results of this genetic mixture.

Last summer there was a wave of Middle Eastern tourists at a local high-end shopping mall. Some young girls were wearing barely-halal hijab and sprayed-on shirts and jeans. Naturally they were accompanied by bulldog looking chaperons in glorified burlap sacks, and in one instance full burqa.

Well yeah, but the personality change is the main problem. Wild as hell when rebelling against parents, dull as hell when she finally figured out that I was all stable and reliable and shit.

ETA - Yes, I got the "blew up" joke. Ha. Most of her family is Christian with only one branch Muslim (or Druze, I can't tell the difference).

A friend from martial arts class just liked the head scarf, so she chose to continue to wear it. She color coordinated stuff pretty well.

A lot of people keep things for style that don't serve their original purpose––cowboy boots on people that don't ride horses or motorcycles and buttons reversed on women's shirts as opposed to men's shirts come to mind.
