Bullet to the head and be done with it if you are going to publicly noose them. That's a terrible way to die. If you read a random GD thread about some heinous crime, you'll see all sorts of posts competing to see who can wish the most unusual and painful method of death possible upon the perpetrators. It's not that different. Well... Only in the last 100 years or so have we come up with humane executions. Shit like this has been happening since we've lived in human "societies." The thirst for bloody, expedient, brutal vengeance is deeply rooted in our base nature. |

It's not that different. To be fair, it usually (though not always) has something to do with some unspeakable act of evil perpetrated against some innocent (and usually young) child. |

Not that an execution without a fair trial is any good, but it's not so bad as being stoned to death for being in a car with an unrelated male. |

People who support this sort of thing don't support humanity. If you decide through a systematic and fair way that a person is punishable by death, then one must pick the most humane manner. Not some 3rd world bull shiet that promotes violence.

I am against senseless violence.
I am not against violence if it serves a purpose. Executions, even if summary, should be done quickly. Not for sport. Thumbs down. |

I don't know how any sane person could just stand there and watch that happening without trying to intervene some fucking way. This is what happens when there is no law, no order, no recourse. In a country were 99% of the murders go unsolved and the officials are easily bought off--this is what happens when the locals get a hold of a criminal. There are lynchings every week in Guatemala.

Background.....
The vicious attack in the village of Rio Bravo, 77 miles west of capital Guatemala City, was videoed as a crowd stood by and watched the unidentified teenager being savagely battered and burnt to death.
According to Guatemalan news site Tiempo, the girl was accused of being part of a gang, who killed motorcycle taxi driver Carlos Enrique González Noriega, 68. Two male accomplices shot the taxi driver, robbed him and fled the scene, disappearing down a series of alleys, but the girl took a wrong turn and was quickly surrounded and set upon by a vigilante mob. The four-minute 38-second video shows the teenager being dragged by her hair into the centre of a crowd. She is punched and kicked until blood streams down her face. Dazed and stumbling, she falls to the ground, writhing in pain. Then, one of the mob douses the young girl in petrol and sets her on fire. She screams and writhes until she finally dies in agony. Her murder is watched by a crowd that includes young children and elderly women. The video was uploaded to YouTube and was viewed hundreds of thousands of times before it was removed. The incident has provoked an outcry on social media View Quote Read more at http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ba2_1433107749#DAhAP35QmEkdhvmt.99 |

I guess they don't teach "stop drop and roll" in Guatemala.

Life is cheap in many parts of the world.
When my folks lives in Nigeria, people were regularly killed by the mob for stealing and other offenses. My dad's office overlooked a big square in Lagos, and I remember one day when I was talking to him on the phone he mentioned that he saw someone get grabbed by the mob and beaten (presumably for stealing), and then "necklaced" - meaning an old tire was forced over his body (pinning his arms), gas was poured on him, and set alight. In cases like that, the police have zero interest in getting involved. One of the reasons that the company REQUIRED him to have a chauffeur for all of his driving was that in case the car hit and killed a child or something, the hope was that it was only the chauffeur that would be dragged from the car and killed, and not my dad. |
