I actually remember reading an article in Popular Science magazine about a similar technology/gun being used on larger satellites and space stations to use against meteors and such.

If you are going 18K mph, and what you are shooting at is moving just as fast...Nah....

Pure sex.  Put it in a CROWS-type mount with full thermal sighting and it could fit on darn near any small vehicle.

One of the things it suffered from was too high a rate of fire. They decided supply chains couldn't keep up with the need for ammo if it were fielded.

I think it lacked a platform.  Anything that could carry a microgun could carry a minigun so why  bother?  Maybe when we get powered exoskeletons...

Electric motor-powered - The rate of fire can be just about anything you want it to be, simply by varying the motor speed.

RoF selectable by rheostat, stabilized-mount CROWS type system (with manual backup) on an MRAP or JLTV-size vehicle...same ammo as the SAW, and heck! since it's not using the fired cartridge energy to cycle, it's the perfect vehicle for M855A1 and its insane pressure curve!

ROF can be arbitrarly controlled on a electrically operated firearm.

What if you fire 5.56 from a helicopter flying really fast?

Or fire it from a helicopter on a turntable?

Wow are they tiny!  Seems like mounting these things on stuff like little birds would make sense.   Save a lot of weight.

7.62 is the minimum effective caliber for anything fired from a helicopter.

I have a vision:

XM214 inside the six barrels of an M134 inside the six barrels of an M61 inside the seven barrels of a GAU8.....

Concentric death spiral of lead FTW!

So I found something of interest. To compliment the XM214, I present the T250: aka the BFGG. Chambered in 37x219mmSR.

But it can be defeated simply by putting all of the targets on a turntable.

Followed shortly by 57×438mm, and then 76×900mmR, and so on until we reach at least 406mm.
