Had a 2012 with the 6.2 cool truck, fun chicks dig that thing like no other sportscar I have ever owned.  Sold it to another member here, he loves it.  Thing was about it, I was not driving it for what it was meant to do(I knew when I bought it, I just wanted a toy) It sucked fuel to the tune of 12.2 MPG average real world driving. It's fricking wider than an H1( I live in the a suburban area)Had my fun with it, sold it now just what to buy next  Driving my base model fleet F150 now.  Next car will be a sports car.

buy a tundra rock warrior edition. Its cheaper, faster, and and an all around better truck.

That truck does look good.

The Tundra is a good truck for the money.  I have a Raptor and my brother actually has a Raptor and a Tundra Rock Warrior.  The Toyota is nice, but the Raptor is much more of a hardcore off road truck.  Bro likes his Raptor much more than the Toyota and had since delegated the Tundra to a company truck for his employees.   The TRD Rock Warrior package is just different wheels, tires, and a graphic on the side.  It has the same skid plate and Bilstein shocks as other TRD Tundras.  There's no real mechanical upgrades.

Regardless, if you rarely venture off pavement, the Raptor may not be the best truck to buy.

I ordered a 2012 Raptor which was $43,700 (close to invoice).  That's a lot of money, but it's not much more than other new half ton trucks.  The off road equipment and setup on the Raptor is night and day beyond that of any other truck on the market.  The Raptor has triple bypass Fox coil-over/external res shocks, e-locker which acts like a spool up to 100 MPH, front Torsen LSD, outstanding off road electric gadgetry, 7" wider track than any other half ton, 35" BFG AT KO's, custom fiberglass front end and rear bedsides, significantly beefed up suspension and steering components, awesome 411 HP 6.2L V8, along with a bunch of other stuff.

Every time I get airborne in mine, it feels like it was worth every penny.  There's just something about flying through the air in a 6,000 pound truck that puts a smile on my face.  I added a few things, including the RPG Stage 2 suspension and a 20" Rigid LED lightbar.

Where around here can you jump a Raptor? I have been dismissing them as useless on the East coast without dunes, but is there something I am missing?

I currently think that if you want an offroad truck in PA (and a truck sucks offroad in wooded PA), that a Power Wagon with a front solid axle and front locker is king.

As matt33 pic shows and this pic (without the wheel) the fix to the frame bending as most of it was caused by the axel contacting the frame bump stop.

There are tons of hilly dirt roads, NG pipelines, and trails all over the place here in Bradford, Susquehanna, Sullivan, and Tioga counties.  I live on a hilly 3 mile long dirt road which I get air on regularly.  The Raptor is right at home here in my extremely rural area, but if you live in a more populated area, the Raptor may not be my first choice.

When I bought my Raptor in 2011, I ordered it through a buying service and paid $34,000 for it. When I went to the delivering Dealer, they had an Addendum sticker in the window for a $10,000 markup over Sticker. The price I paid for mine was $2000 more than the FX4, which put it in the range I was willing to pay. IF I had to pay $50,000 for one I would not have bought it.

Yeah... If you got it for $34k, how base is it? That's what I paid for a used half ton Sierra...

Honestly even at $50k I don't think they are super expensive, I'm pretty sure the shocks alone are $4k-ish. Hell, just about any new loaded up truck is close to $50k.

Yes, I installed it myself. It was not that hard to do.  It took me a few hours, but I work at a snail's pace and solder everything as well as use heat-shrink wrap, meticulously double checking everything as I go.  Raptors have 4 switches built into the cab for adding lights and similar accessories.  I wish more manufacturers would do this.

My avatar is my first 2010, it was the 5.4 scab and while fun to drive was snail slow.

Fast forward and i purchased a 2012 6.2 screw when they started rolling into the dealers.  At 100+ horsepower more than the 5.4L makes this truck what it should have been since day one.

If you have to ask why $50+k then you have never ridden in one.  You cant build anything like it from any of the other f150 models without spending 15-20k more than if you just bought the raptor.

The fender flares are out there to cover the 7 1/2 inch wider axels than a regular f150, in fact these trucks are wider than srw f-250's by about 2 inches.  The LED's are there as federal DOT mandates for width.

As for the warranty issue i have had my problems stemming from hard offroad usage.  Warranty covered all repairs without any issue.

The frame problem is known and you are correct they wont cover that one.  But i dont hit kickers going 80+ miles an hour which was the cause for just about every one of those problems.

And its not nearly as wide as an H1. Might feel like it, but its a far cry from an H1.

It is read the specs on both.  Does not seem like it on the inside, but throw in the flared fenders and it is.

The H1 is actually 0.3" wider than the Raptor but has a narrower track width.

As a Toyota fan, I wouldn't even compare the Raptor to the Tundra Rock Warrior.

The Raptor has specific specs, shocks, larger V8 and transmission package that the Tundra was never intended to have stock.

I bought my Raptor through AAFES while in Iraq. At the time of purchase the Truck less Navigation and Sunroof was $38500 less $4500 Rebate = $34,000.

sticker on the Truck was $42,675 plus an Addendum Sticker of $10,000 placed on the Vehicle by Crown Ford of Fayetteville, NC. The Addendum on the Vehicle was no relevant to the purchase because the Dealer was only functioning as a delivery site for me to take possession of the Truck.

Had I attempted to purchase from Crowne Ford, their selling price on the Truck would have been $52,675 less any applicable discounts.
