Sometimes it's involuntary. This one time in, like, 8th grade, this black girl in one of my classes came in with a big bag of Jolly Ranchers and out of nowhere I found myself saying, "Aw hell naw, let me get one of those!"

maybe it's just be being a northerner and all, but if you blind folded me during the first episode of sons of guns, i'd imagine half the cast to be black.

At work I come into contact with Japanese, Turks, Indians, Germans, and others.
Each time I reflexively mimic their accent; it actually does enhance communications.

It's normal.

Black people do it too.

A black talks differently around a white guy than he does his black friends. Everyone does it to some extent.

This, even if I try to fight it, I can't stop it.

My best friend at work is Sri Lankan, and I find myself speaking to him in "sringlish" from time to time.

I don't change the way I talk for anyone. I don't usually swear in public. That would be the only change. That's not to anyones benefit but my own.

I've been known to throw in a "nahmean" sometimes... but of course I've also been known to be an asshole sometimes too. Nahmean?

Nothing important.  It was a recommendation from ebay user sign up back 05', I use it for everything now. Makes things easier to remember.

It's just their racism showing itself.  Usually to approving nods of the local community they are addressing.

This.

When I email or talk with my Thai friends...the simpler I make it and use their grammar style with English the better they understand

I've noticed that otherwise educated, well spoken blacks slip into street thugese when around other black people. Watch Obama when hes addressing an inner city, black audience.

Black people will often readily admit that they talk completely differently around other black people like it's a second dialect.

My mother is white and when my goes back home to Florida to be with family (who are very country oriented), she talks just like them and takes on an accent.

Not a fascination just has been pointed out that 88 is a supremist type group and 87 is some kind of  arfcom thing.  I was just wondering what the meaning of his handle was all about.

I've seen college educated white people start talking like 29 year repeat old 3rd graders around black people (college educated) in a professional environment and can't help but wonder why the black people don't get pissed.  Essentially, the white person is saying (to the black people) you are uneducated so I will speak down to your level.  Then when not around black people they speak normally again.  I've asked a couple black friends and coworkers over the years if it pisses them off, they actually laugh about it and say "stupid white people."  For those of you that are overly sensitive, they mean it towards the liberal idiots that do that.
