You now have a 5 shot revolver. Actually, I believe he has a four |

I have video of it happening actually...I don't know if I want to release it here though. In for video. |
Damn, that blows. At least you just hit the cylinder. Glad you're ok. How much is a new cylinder?
Aside from the engine block, for the most part cars are concealment, not cover. Just nitpicking.

That'll buff right out...
But hey, if you get it opened, you can make it a 4 shot revolver... . Hope you can get it fixed... I love my 442... |
What do you want to bet that those pictures show up elsewhere on the 'net with some heroic story about how the pistol deflected a round that would have hit the owner right between the eyes?
OP: Thanks for being honest, but I'll say the same thing to you that my dad always said when I fucked up..."well that wasn't very smart, but at least you learned from it." |

I'm not even going to bother listing out all the things you did wrong. Instead I'll just say that you're damn lucky you've still got 10 fingers, both eyes and didn't need to have a doctor remove shrapnel from your face.
looks like your AR is jealous of all the time you spend with you S&W too bad cause they would work well together. |
Fuckin' awesome!
Is that a Ford Probe? Maybe you and piccolo could go on a date or something. |
That will buff out. I would love to be at S&W when they get this one in the shop for repair. Be sure to send the story along, I'm betting it's not the first time, but there won't be many to duplicate this one.
They might give you a new revolver so they can keep that one for marketing. "Strong revolver, resists high power rifle fire" Quoted:
Post-lock S&W = good shoot. |
Ouch.
Oh well, could have been a lot worse than a new cylinder and a small hit to the ego. Kudos for owning up to your accident and as long as you learn from it it's all good. |

Ouch! It'll need more then a new cylinder. I'd bet it'll need a new crane and it wouldn't surprise me if the frame was tweaked a bit also. Since the new cylinder would have to be timed you might as well send it in and see what S&W will do for you.
Consider it an expensive lesson in the difference between point of impact and point of aim.

You win the AWARD!
Q. What's the best way to shoot your S&W 442? A. With your AR-15, of course! |

That couple of inches 'tween bore & sight will bite You.
I once thought I had that strand of barbed wire cleared. Twice. Two in a row. After the first "Twang!" I thought "gotta remember to add a little more clearance!". wasn't enough. Glad it was a fence that wasn't used any more. I figured Gawd didn't want Me to shoot those Gophers that Day, so I drove on Home. The Ol' Crew Chief |

I would keep that kind of shit to myself. Aren't you the guy who had sex with a married woman? |
Anyway, I know about the sights being higher than the bore, which is why I DIDN'T SHOOT MY CAR. The revolver happened to be just a bit higher than my car....
OUch! What an expensive lesson. I bet you will not do that again.
Poofire: "Hey, I went out to the range and shot my new 442 today!"
I've seen people shoot their cars ... just because the scope clears the hood ...
You don't own a holster? Or do you not have CCW? Either way, seems odd. Read about the FBI Shootout in Florida in the 80's for some examples of why it's bad to have your gun under your leg in a car chase....
And, yes first time I've heard of someone shooting their own gun. Hopefully you can get it fixed.... |
"You shot my gun god damn it! You're not supposed to shoot a person's gun! Oh, now that pisses me off! You know how much one of these cost? "
Quoted:
You've got balls of steel admitting that here, OP. Indeed, he must need a wheelbarrow to cart those sumbitches around. |

If I'm driving it goes under my thigh for quick access, ever tried drawing from a holster while seated and belted in? |

Glad your ok on that one... lead splatter in your face can be a bitch.
At least you had the balls to post it up on here for the rest of us to benefit from the mistake as well. I am ALWAYS leery of the AR's sight height over bore. And after watching AOTTC and this thread, it is really evident how important it is. Any damage to the car? |
Wow...had I not read the whole story I would have thought for sure you used a GLOCK BULLET in your gun...
