That ship looks like it's built around a set of truck nuts.

EDIT: I'm a dumbass...I read it as sci-fi, not space movie. my opinion still stands though.

I can be the biggest movie snob sometimes but a lot of the time I enjoy good ol action flicks. Die Hard, Robocop, Rambo series, Predator, etc.. I've watched all of them countless times.

I will admit that I'm not a fan of comic book movies. I can see how they're popular but just not for me. BUT....if you like gritty action movies that have kind of an 80's vibe, please watch the movie Dredd. Not the Sly Stallone movie Judge Dredd...but just Dredd.

Just an underrated movie. The world has gone to shit and Dredd is an experienced cop. He gets assigned a rookie and they investigate a murder at a really tall high rise/slum that's controlled by gangs. To make a long story short, the baddies trigger the buildings defense system and huge metal walls slide down turning the building into a giant sarcophagus. Dredd now has to shoot his way through the building. Just a fun/trippy movie with loads of violence...probably the closest thing to a real Robocop 2.

To bad they movie suffered from horrible promotion and didn't do so well.

Every person I've recommended this movie to absolutely loved it. Definitely give it a chance. The premise sounds generic but it's done so well...and Karl Urban does Dredd perfectly.

+1 for Dark Star and Solaris. I've been trying to watch some of the old classic Soviet films as well. I went to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville last weekend and I've been on a space kick all week.

watched the series when it originally aired, but it's a different experience to watch multiple episodes at a time.

amusingly, the subject is right in my wheelhouse--it's resource geography in space.

I came here to suggest this. It's really good although the books are much better imo.

I love that movie.

"Sgt Pinback, it's time to feed the alien."
"Ohhhh...I don't wanna do that."

"Eat it, it's all we got...we're all out of the other stuff."

I kept using dialog from DS when watching Gravity until the wife started throwing things.
