VRM Saw you replaced the right side ball joints. Do you run the bolt on spindle savers? No spindle savers......yet You are required to run the Pinto spindles, right? The metric GM spindle savers are at least cheap. Can run any factory spindles OK, the way your track incorporated the IMCA allowance to use a specific Speedway part number after market Pinto spindle in a Northern SportMod doesn't have a "may be used" in it. Reads like it is the required part. My engineering judgment on spindle savers for a 79 or after GM is that the ones with the reinforcement like the AFCO or Circle Tract Supply would be preferred to the flat ones from Speedway. |
|
I would not run the spindle savers. I would rather the spindle get bent then transfer energy to the frame, via the control arms, and move the mounting point geometry. I know plenty of guys that do run them though, this is just my opinion and not meant to be fact in any way shape or form.

I'm glad to see you could keep the camera!
Hell, It's been years since I touched a car, but I still remember how to check tire pressure and knock mud off! Oh, I remember how to drink beer too, was practicing that one this afternoon! |

LR shock had too little travel so I relocated/cut off old mount and added a new mount
Stiffened up the right front spring to get the push out of the car entering the corner. The car is scaled and will soon be loaded on the trailer for tomorrow. Chance of rain tonight…......whodathunkit??? |

NICE!!! We used to race on Sunday nights. Monday mornings hurt a little View Quote It's even more fun in the rig! Usually, we (the passengers) are pretty tuned up by that point. That's the crew chief (brother of the driver) making his rounds around Knoxville, while we're in there cheering him on and his brother (the driver) telling him, 'Now imagine you're doing 140 here! Get that right rear (of the trailer) into the cushion. Now hit the bottom coming into 3!' I dunno, we get kinda stupid and it's a fucking awesome time. Crew chief wants that pic on his headstone... He does have the track record there for 16 wheels, I'll give him that much... |
